[This afternoon, the quirky merriment at Terre Haute has something very sudden cutting its way in. There's the very distinct sound of an explosion. It shakes the ground with a small tremor for but a brief moment. Those who are looking at a certain monolith in the distance may see that there is now smoke coming from it, parts of it crumbling and tearing away as black smoke begin to fill the air.

Something's happening at that strange "thing" that fell from the sky. But what? Dare you disregard the unsettling feeling that may begin to steadily fill the air?]

[That sure is smoke filling the air! That monolith in the distance is crumbling and you can tell that "something" is happening as tremors hit the ground from its crumbling shards. The "thing" as a whole is still there, but it may not be as intact as it was before.

What do you think is happening? Discuss.]

[The Once-ler is staring at that smoke with an expression somewhere between irritation and despondency. He knew something like this was going to happen. Something like this ALWAYS happens]

Great. Any minute now the running and the screaming will start.

He'll be looking off towards the direction of the monolith and frowning.]

[Allen was certainly startled by that, since he was enjoying the juice bar and all, but now he's looking and trying to get a good eye on what that thing in the distance could be]

[The second he hears, Felix rushes closer to the edge of town to get a better look.]

[Reborn's reaction is simple when he sees smoke. He finishes his juice, heads outside with his hat tilted over his eyes and pulls out his pistol, just in case and starts looking for his student.]

It was too much to hope for a quiet day.

[The explosion, and subsequent smoke, is the first thing to get Spike's attention since he had a mental shutdown at the idea of talking giraffes existing out here. (Which he's rudely denying, despite all their hospitality.)

He gets up from where he's made a nice hill of cigarette butts, and squints into the distance. ... ]

It's about time. [They've been looking for something like that, right?]

[Ever she got reminded of the crash site, she's been on high alert. Having fought Shadows before and being in this world long enough, something is bound to happen. She saw the smoke and heard the explosion]

[Whoa, this looks important! Unless the giraffes stop her or anything, Aradia's gonna go ahead and climb up the escalator for a better look.]

[Carson looks up from what he was doing, preparing something to eat, when the explosion rocks the air and ground.]

Here we go... [Someone's looking awfully calm, as he abandons his meal prep and makes sure his medical supplies are in order.]

...Alright! I say we investigate that!

[Conan had only one response to sudden loud explosions. Run towards them and investigate.

He takes off running without bothering to say anything to anyone.]

[David's head snaps to the explosion, and he instantly tenses up.

This is just what he needs. A voice in his head whispers;

He can feel the weight of the gun in his waistband, the knife in his boot. All his clothes half a size too big to hide Bourne's subconcious preparations under Webb's scholary actions.

He watches, keeping an eye on the people around him. Something's changed about the professor. He seems... more serious.]

[ As the ground shakes Grey Wind begins to growl, ears flattening against his skull and fur bristling. The smoke does little to elevate the wolf's displeasure, if anything he growls more, jaws snapping at an invisible enemy.

Robb's mood isn't better, his hand rests on her sword. He turns, looking around the area. Where in the name of the old gods is his sister? ]

Arya!

[ Don't you dare go towards that smoke, DON'T YOU DARE. ]

[Giotto watches the smoke from where he was standing and sighed. Of course it was too much to hope that this place was just full of strange talking giraffes that made no sense.]

Well, that can't be good.

[At the sound of the explosion, Dairine instinctively grabs her bow and quiver. Explosions. Not good. Best be prepared. She rushes outside to find a better vantage point.]

[Explosions usually mean something Interesting. Lack of powers be damned, he's got a sword and three centuries of knowledge. And the horse he borrowed from the stables before they left. So yes, he is headed straight at trouble.]

[There seems to be a mixed reaction coming from the natives of Terre Haute. While some of the giraffes seem to be blissfully unaware of the smoke and tremors, others are reacting a little less calmly. Or not calmly at all.

While a few of the giraffes stand about, others seem to be running in circles in a panic. They can sense that something isn't right. In fact, something like this hasn't happened to them in all the years they've lived here!

Maybe you could try to calm them down?]

[Barry careth not for your smoke and noise. He seems to be sipping some juice at the juice bar, watching some of his fellows race around like lunatics]

[Figures are approaching. First one. Then three. Then a handful. More and more are coming and while they don't look like first gens... they don't exactly look like they're on your side, either. Vaguely bug-like in appearance, though bipedal like any good humanoid, they're stalking your way.

And they look like they mean business.

Once they see figures much like themselves? But far, far more... well, human? They're coming after you. And they seem intent to get a hold of you by any means necessary.]

[Carolina's getting ready to just leave when all the smoke and tremors distract. She stares for just a moment before she starts shouting.] Everyone clear the area! Get out of here!
