Terre Haute expedition: Camping Day 1

[It's been a more or less uneventful day of travel for the expedition team. Not unexpected for the first leg of such a trip, and with any luck, it will stay that way.

As the sun starts to get low in the sky, Felix signals the group with a sharp whistle to stop, shortly after he feels the change. They've entered the Dead Zone. That sudden loss of power for anyone used to that sort of thing. Not an easy thing to adjust to, at first.]

"We've crossed into the border of the Dead Zone now. We should stop here for the night. Those of you with experience, help set up camp as needed. And I recommend a few of you working out a watch schedule. You never can tell what might be out here."

We should take the boy [Connor] and go see what we can hunt!

[Hunt animals, that is. It's not like he wants to even think about hunting humans right now.]

[Steph follows Cass' gaze, but doesn't see anything amiss. He does wear funny clothing, so maybe she's just paying more attention to that right now? Whatever.]

Like what? Owls?

[hellofist]

Can catch fish... with just hands.

[Killing anything with more brain power than a fish isn't exactly on Cass' list of things to do if it can be avoided, thank you. Even animals have body language and when they die it looks the same as when humans do it.]

[assassino]

No! We find one of those buffalos.

[secondchances]

No, Ezio. We're not going after the eyeless buffalo [WITH PEOPLE PARTS ON THE INSIDE EWWW] tonight.

Why don't you tell us a story or something? Be entertaining!

Eyeless...

[Yeah no she's just going to let that go, patting the spot beside her for Ezio to come and sit down. She wants to see him move some more, try to get a better idea what happened to him.]

Know any good ones?

[Ezio sits, even if he's tired of sitting from a day in the saddle. His core is a little tighter than usual, which throws off his usual relaxed slouch.]

Easy sport for beginners! But I suppose I could dig up a story for you.

If you don't think of one, I'll bring up an embarrassing one.

[She's got a big smile on her face. Hanging out with Ezio and Cass is the best♥]

[Hanging out with them is the best because they are the best.]

Perhaps I should just pass the torch to Stephanie, then!

[She hunches over to think.]

There are few times I will grant you permission to tell, you know.

[He leans back a bit, one hand drifting over his side experimentally, overtop his clothes.]

The pressure! But no, I think I've got one.

[The funniest was him being naked and covered in paint, but that also led to Lucrezia cracking her head and getting canon bumped. Steph doesn't want to think about her at all right now.]

Not too long after we first met, Mr. Show Off here was hanging out on some rooftops and decided to try and impress me. He wasn't used to ice so much at the time, and so that pretty much ended up with him on the ground with a twisted ankle. I had to carry him to the clinic. [It was totally carrying.] I was very impressed by his ability to whine like a baby despite looking like a grown man.

[Imagine it, Cass. Imagine Ezio totally eating it in snow :') ]

[Well, that gets a look from Cass.]

Sometimes, people don't care... about permission. Should be glad Steph is nice.

[She knows you told Connor about her body reading, Ezio. She knows.]

At least it was snow. You fell in garbage.

I am always pleased with her niceness. She is more patient than I ever expected.

[Or deserved, but he masks his sudden thoughts about broken promises with an amused look.]

So my favourite golden-haired girl has been tumbling from rooftops, as well?

He's appreciative. Don't worry.

[No need to break Ezio's arms, Cass.]

Hey! For the record, that was ages ago. I don't tumble anymore. [Not as much, anyway. MUST TURN FOCUS AWAY.]

Cass like, broke my jaw once, Ezio. I bet I still have damage from that...

[Dramatic sad face as she presses her fingers to her jaw. Poor bb :'( ]

[Suddenly, the need for private conversations with Ezio is becoming more and more obvious. What did you do young man?.]

Just small break. Don't be a baby.

[She leans over and kiss Steph's jaw anyway, though. There, all better.]

Take advantage of good medicine whenever you can, that is what I say.

[Too stubborn of bring it up, of course.]

I'm not a baby. [She says with the tiniest pout until she gets a kiss :') okay, all better.]

Good medicine not being leeches and bleeding.

If it works, it's good.

[It does sound kind of gross but honestly if it fixes people then why not?]

It does work. Leeches eat away dead and dying flesh, and leave the living. A good thing to do, to save a man from a flesh wound.

Bleeding, though? Not so much.

Can lose lots of blood, before death. Maybe it... gets bad stuff out?
