Terre Haute expedition: Camping Day 1

[It's been a more or less uneventful day of travel for the expedition team. Not unexpected for the first leg of such a trip, and with any luck, it will stay that way.

As the sun starts to get low in the sky, Felix signals the group with a sharp whistle to stop, shortly after he feels the change. They've entered the Dead Zone. That sudden loss of power for anyone used to that sort of thing. Not an easy thing to adjust to, at first.]

"We've crossed into the border of the Dead Zone now. We should stop here for the night. Those of you with experience, help set up camp as needed. And I recommend a few of you working out a watch schedule. You never can tell what might be out here."

[Either one of them could disappear from the castle before she's learned everything, there's no actual guarantee she'd learn everything.]

So? Any of us could die tomorrow, in our own times.

Dying's not scary. But, if you'll teach me, will listen. We can see... how far I get.

I think you would like it. Stephanie and the others, too, if they took the time to listen.

Maybe they will, if I tell them.

One can hope...

Might take... more than hope, for some of them.

[She's mostly thinking of Tim right now.]

Tim will need some force, hmm?

Force won't help, with him. Would only hurt. He takes time.

He's dumb, though. Doesn't always... see things, the way they are.

His brand of idealism is rather... Naive, if it is not too bold to say.

Would that stop you?

Then say it. Always say... what you mean, what you think.

[She sees it anyway, might as well just let it be out there in the open.]

I did, didn't I? I just put in that last bit to be polite.

Whatever is natural, for you. Too many people... hide who they are.

Well, I see no point in lying.

It's kind of pointless, with me. Will always see.

[And here comes Steph! Where was she? She has some water bottles and sandwiches in her arms. Definitely peed, too.]

Howdy, folks. Can I interest you in some food and beverages?

[The sex talk is over, right?]

[He glances up at Steph.]

That would be much appreciated...

[There's a moment where Cass is seriously considering teasing Steph by asking another completely inappropriate question, but it passes in favor of making sure she doesn't run off again. Instead she waves her over, eyeing the food she's carrying.]

You're safe, now. We'll be good.
