Terre Haute expedition: Camping Day 1

[It's been a more or less uneventful day of travel for the expedition team. Not unexpected for the first leg of such a trip, and with any luck, it will stay that way.

As the sun starts to get low in the sky, Felix signals the group with a sharp whistle to stop, shortly after he feels the change. They've entered the Dead Zone. That sudden loss of power for anyone used to that sort of thing. Not an easy thing to adjust to, at first.]

"We've crossed into the border of the Dead Zone now. We should stop here for the night. Those of you with experience, help set up camp as needed. And I recommend a few of you working out a watch schedule. You never can tell what might be out here."

[It's time to round up the wagons, water your horses, and get up those tents, assuming you know what to do. Or give the newbie's a hand. That's always nice]

[Gale's taking his gear down and scouting out a spot, tent bag slung over his shoulder]

Hey, anyone needs help setting up, just let me know!

[Katniss snorts softly, one corner of her mouth lifting up as she smirks at him.] And if you want your tent not to lean over sideways -- come talk to me.

Hey! [he laughs] If you hadn't taken those rocks that one time to build the firepit, it would've stayed straight, you know.

[Nepeta's tent looks a little like this. Bigger, of course, with a zipper to close the mouth. As much as Nepeta likes roughing it and sleeping under the stars, she couldn't exactly say no to a tent like this.

She peeks her head out of the tent and folds her arms beneath it, just watching everyone bustle about.]

[Aradia's setting up her own tent nearby - it's pretty much just Army surplus. (Nepeta might appreciate the shade of drab, though.) She stops when she notices the kitty tent though.]

Oh my gosh, that's cute.

[Nepeta's smile is extremely bright as she glances up at Aradia. She props herself up a bit.]

Isn't it the best? Last time I just slept on my coat, but this time I wanted a tent like everyone else.

[Oh my god.

That's...]

Where did you even find that?

[Nepeta glances up at him with pride.]

I made it myself. Well, I alchemized it, but that's almost the same thing. I took a regular tent and made it a million times better.

[Jane kept her necessities simple; a sleeping bag and pillow is more than enough for her, and if she really feels threatened, she can always set herself up in one of the wagons. But for now, the night sky is the perfect ceiling, and she is ready and raring to assist anybody who might need assistance!]

Hey! Does anybody need any help?

Adachi is currently trying to set his tent up but it looks more like he's getting himself wrapped up in it. Adachi how the hell]

U-Um... y-yeah, I could p-please...

[And she happily trots over with a smile and begins to untangle you. She won't laugh!]

No problem! Goodness, how did you get like this?

[It's like a joint popping back into place. Mildmay looks around, confused, wondering if anyone else felt it...?]

[Apparently not.]

[He really hopes this isn't something to do with the binding. It probably is though. He has a hunch... Anyway, Mildmay sets up camp, preparing his and Felix's supplies without being asked. He'll set up his brother's entire tent for him if someone doesn't stop him.]

[Katniss has had more than enough practice, setting up a camp. She makes sure that her stuff is on the outside of the others, so she can keep watch while they sleep. Which is something she should bring up, now.]

Hey. People. I'll take first watch, all right?

[Percy is finally free from his hangover, yay. And the first thing he does is go hang with Katniss]

Mind if I keep you company?

[She grins as Percy approaches, slinging her bow over her shoulder.]

Of course. I always need someone on my back I can trust. But -- [ she squinted at him.] You look like you've seen the other side of some white wine, Percy.

[This is Evan's first experience being completely without his powers, and truly vulnerable for the first time in his life. He's been running on that adrenaline rush all day, so now he's crashing, his Flygon munching on a bowl of pokemon food, while Evan himself works on setting up his little green pup tent.]

[Legolas needed no tent, content to sleep beneath the stars if he needed to. He didn't though. He did walk around the campsite though, seeing who might need help in getting set up.]

[Connor is getting a little more accustomed to people with yellow hair, so that's not the bit he stares at. No, it's the ears that kind of give him pause.

But staring is rude though, so he quickly shakes himself and looks away, embarrassed. Smooth...]

[It wouldn't be the first time in Paradisa that someone had stared at him for his ears and it likely wouldn't be the last. He just laughs lightly when he catches sight of Connor watching him.]

[ Anne is waiting for someone to set up her camp, please and thank you. She's remained surprisingly quiet on the trip so far, taking her time to try to evaluate the sort of people she's with before starting anything. Most specifically the 'leader', who she finds suspect.

But she's still queen, damnit, whether they want to acknowledge it or not. So she lingers near her horse, feeding it half of an apple and waiting to spot someone who might actually receive a (polite) command. ]

[Well, this gangly guy is hanging around, and he's bossed around by women forever. He's finished setting up his own collapsible cottage and currently seems to be busying himself with putting stuff into it]

[ She's definitely staring, because...she wants that. She wants that now. It's so much better than anything she has. ]

[Geeze, Anne. Aren't you the special snowflake? Galadriel, on the other hand, has no problem setting up her own camp. Not that there is a lot to set up- in her younger years she would not have even brought a tent. There's one now, but it's rather simple and doesn't take her long to put together. But then she's full of surprises today. Her usual white gown has been exchanged for something a little more simple and her hair is bound around her head in braids. It's a vision of the First Age of Middle-Earth, if only people knew it.

It's only a few minutes before she's done setting up and then she glances over at Anne with a little smile.]

You seem pensive, my lady.

[ She really is! But don't worry, she's having the Once-ler move all of her things into his cute cottage. She has this shit handled, don't you worry about her!

But even if she is happy that worked out for the best, she does worry. Everyone has talked a lot about the dangers out here, but after the earthquake, she worries more for Elizabeth and others left at the castle.

Galadriel is both a welcome face but painful reminder. Ever since the banishment, even with Elizabeth's loss, she can't quite smile as brightly as before in this one's presence. ]

Lady Galadriel, you are too perceptive. I am merely anxious for this progress to go well, that is all. How do you fare?
