Terre Haute expedition: Camping Day 1

[It's been a more or less uneventful day of travel for the expedition team. Not unexpected for the first leg of such a trip, and with any luck, it will stay that way.

As the sun starts to get low in the sky, Felix signals the group with a sharp whistle to stop, shortly after he feels the change. They've entered the Dead Zone. That sudden loss of power for anyone used to that sort of thing. Not an easy thing to adjust to, at first.]

"We've crossed into the border of the Dead Zone now. We should stop here for the night. Those of you with experience, help set up camp as needed. And I recommend a few of you working out a watch schedule. You never can tell what might be out here."

He's your family? Is he... little brother?

Connor? No. I don't think so, anyway. He is American. The, uh... native kind.

Then... assassin family? Not blood family.

[Is that what he meant?]

I suppose... but my blood family specifically, too.

[hellofist]

If not brother, then... what is he, to you?

[assassino]

Student.

[hellofist]

I'm teaching him, too. Does that make... me his family, too?

[She's trying very hard to figure out the logic to this, but it's not easy.]

[assassino]

He is not a member of the Assassins' Order yet, though he will be someday. He will be family in that sense. But you, dolcezza, have left your assassins.

[hellofist]

Is that bad?

[assassino]

No. I do not believe our organizations were one and the same. Yours is shit, to say the least.

[hellofist]

[That gets a laugh from her.]

You're right. It's... very shit.

[Now you've got her swearing too, Ezio.]

[he chuckles]

Of course. But you could be an Assassin like Connor and I, perhaps.

[hellofist]

[She's still smiling when she shakes her head. It means a lot to her that he would say something like that, so she doesn't want to insult him by turning him down rudely. She might even agree if it weren't for the main point behind being an assassin.]

I don't kill. Not anymore.

[assassino]

[Amused]

You could be a treasurer, or a secretary.

[hellofist]

What do those do?

[assassino]

They manage money and resources.

I have plenty of allies who do not kill, you know.

[hellofist]

[She's trying not to laugh again because the idea of her being in charge of money is kind of hilarious.]

Can't count. Or... read marks, on money. Will try for you, though.

Do they all... manage stuff?

[assassino]

No. Some are teachers, or scholars.

[hellofist]

[It would be nice to belong to something like that again. Without Batman here her team consists of someone who would rather hide who he really is and someone who is fine just going with that, but it makes Cass crazy. She wants a family and she wants one badly, but aligning herself with a group called the Assassin's Order could cause some obvious issues.

She doesn't expect much to come of this, though. He'll probably forget once they're back at the castle and everyday life has resumed, so she might as well just keep asking questions.]

Is there... initiation? Things I have... to do?

[assassino]

Si, of course. There is a creed, a maxim... It takes a strong understanding of the philosophy behind our work. The philosophy is more important than the skills, at times.

[hellofist]

Sounds like something... that would take years.

[assassino]

It does.

[hellofist]

Might not have years, here. Might not... finish, in time.

[Either one of them could disappear from the castle before she's learned everything, there's no actual guarantee she'd learn everything.]
