Terre Haute

[Today, our intrepid explorers have finally made it to Terre Haute. It’s mostly grassland, and on the outskirts small spotted lions, about the size of leopards prowl around. They seem to be more interested in the strange antelope running around than in any people, however. Towards the edge, lies a cliff face, looking out to sea, on occasion giant whales can be seen breaching the water.

Of the weird thing they came to look for, in the distance is a cylindrical shape, lying on its side. But between them and it is a strange village. One made up of excessively tall wooden huts, all of which have electric lights, turned on, though how they’re creating such power is a mystery, they are still very much inside the dead zone.

The residents of this off little village are wandering around, going about their buisess. The residents being a group of bemused looking giraffes. Perhaps you will even see some familiar non-giraffe faces milling about.

[Ezio is quite baffled. This little village, and animals everywhere... but who lives here? He dismounts his horse, looking about in surprised.]

Have the people all fled?

[Steph is also quite baffled! Anyway, she approached him for a reason. A very specific one.]

You. [Points at him.] Stay away from those. [Points at the lions.]

[He gives Stephanie an even more confused look. Where does she get off telling him what to do?]

Why?

[secondchances]

Because they'll probably eat you, if not spill your insides everywhere. And I know you. Leave them alone.

[assassino]

[You're only giving him ideas!]

So you are saying it would be manly to fell a beast like that.

[secondchances]

No. It would be unmanly, very, very unmanly, not to heed the wise words of a lady! [She takes his arm.] Let's go look at the view from the cliffs.

[assassino]

[He lets her.]

I want to look at the animals...

[secondchances]

You can after we check this out. Then you can look at the animals. Look. Like you said. I'm not returning you to your girlfriend in chunks.

[assassino]

I find it strange that you think that I –– a trained soldier and Assassin -- am going to be chewed up by a big cat.

[secondchances]

Better safe than sorry.

[She says as she approaches the edge of the cliff and lets go of his arm to peer over.]

Whoa. How cool.

[OCEAN!! Real ocean.]

[assassino]

[He takes a running step as if to jump off ;)]

[Has that mom reflex, like when the car makes a sudden stop and they put their arm out to make sure their kid doesn't jerk into the seatbelt.

Watch your side, Ezio >:( ]

[He stops himself before he barrels right into her arm, but he's not sure which is worse: abruptly stopping himself or just hitting her arm. It feels like it might be the same against his gut.]

Agh! Come on, Stephanie, you know I would not!

[eaglet]

[Connor strolls up, also looking puzzled.]

Do you think these are safe to hunt? [What if they ate all the people, that would be bad...]

[assassino]

The deer-like creatures, perhaps... and the long horses look possible as well.

I do not know about the cats, but there's a challenge for us.

[eaglet]

There is a similar type of large cat that lives near my village, though it looks like these hunt in packs like wolves. It may be too dangerous without cover.

[Open grassland is a weird concept for him...]

And you've hunted them before?

[eaglet]

Large cats? Not purposefully... [Incidentally. Defensively, even.

He gazes at the lions for a long moment, frowning, then looks at Ezio with a vague gesture at his eyes.]

I cannot see. Well -- I can, but not as I normally do.

[assassino]

[Ezio glances to Connor and gives him a surprisingly sympathetic look.]

I know what you mean. But it will not limit you, hmm?

[eaglet]

[He blinks, realising belatedly that Ezio must be going through the same thing.]

No. [It's just weird...]

How many times have you been out in the Dead Zone? You do not seem surprised.

[assassino]

Several times. But my lack of surprise is because Paradisa has taken my vision from me, not because of the Dead Zone.

[WOW now he feels like an insensitive jerk.] Oh. I did not know...

It is fine, do not worry.

[eaglet]

[He nods after a short pause, then looks back to the animals.]

We should start with the deer first, so we will be sure to have meat. Then we may try the cats if you want a challenge.

Si, si. I cannot imagine the flesh of the cats would be all that good for eating, so we will take that challenge after we have sated the bellies of all our fellow travelers.
