Terre Haute

[Today, our intrepid explorers have finally made it to Terre Haute. It’s mostly grassland, and on the outskirts small spotted lions, about the size of leopards prowl around. They seem to be more interested in the strange antelope running around than in any people, however. Towards the edge, lies a cliff face, looking out to sea, on occasion giant whales can be seen breaching the water.

Of the weird thing they came to look for, in the distance is a cylindrical shape, lying on its side. But between them and it is a strange village. One made up of excessively tall wooden huts, all of which have electric lights, turned on, though how they’re creating such power is a mystery, they are still very much inside the dead zone.

The residents of this off little village are wandering around, going about their buisess. The residents being a group of bemused looking giraffes. Perhaps you will even see some familiar non-giraffe faces milling about.

THE ESCALATOR

[A little ways off, some giraffe engineers (you can tell that they’re engineers by their little grey work hats) are working on a wooden contraption that looks like a giant escalator. It already reaches several stories high]

[ Arya has to keep a tight warning grip on Nymeria as she watches them work. She is quiet apart from the occasional shushing. The direwolf ignores her, watching the giraffes like she's not quite sure what to make of them yet. ]

[Stepping up beside her and leaning to whisper in her ear.]

I imagine they'd taste interesting as a roast, don't you think?

[ Arya's skin crawls at the proximity. Outside of a tightening of her jaw and a sharp glare, she does not move. The dead ties between her and Nymeria means the direwolf continues eyeing the giraffes instead of snapping at Ezio. ]

Are you going to kill one?

I didn't say that. It was just a thought!

[He grins, then reaches to ruffle her hair.]

[ Well that's interesting to see, but... ]

What's the point?

[Hey Colonello, there's a familiar boy off derping to the side who hasn't realized you're there yet.]

.. this place just keeps getting weirder and weirder..

[ Of course he hasn't, he's Tsuna. Colonnello wouldn't expect anything else. ]

[ Beckoning Tsuna over to him because he's got some questions. ]

[He spots the giraffes over there and decides to stop and look them on from where he was. Giraffes. *Sentient* giraffes. Working on a wooden escalator. What the fu]

... you mean to tell me this trip we made was to visit a town of giraffes?

I'm startin' to feel like this was a complete waste of time. Here I'd expected something potentially interesting.

But I guess that was my first mistake.

They are quite unique though, aren't they? I have never seen the like of them before.

'Unique' is one word for it. It's a wonder how everytime I think that this place can't get any weirder, it manages to.

[Well this is an interesting feat of engineering. As long as the giraffes are friendly, she's going to have a look at the construction zone, and call up to the folks working on it.]

We are building an escalator, of course, what does it look like.

... It looks like an escalator. Buuut most escalators have buildings around them.

This is a sight I never thought of seeing in my lifetime... [Mitsuru sighs and folded her arms. She just stood there, watching and wondering]

Pardon me, but what is all of this? And why is everyone a giraffe? This is an interesting, albeit strange place... This trip better bear fruit.

Indeed..... [Lemony wanders up beside her and looks up, considering the shape of the thing, and trying to decide if it could have enough potential to hide something large and vaguely in the shape of a squid]

I've seen wooden rollercoasters, but never a wooden escalator. I hope these are not Trojan giraffes.

[Well that's not something you see every day. Violet is interested in the the escalator as a budding engineer herself. She'll be peering at it, trying to work out what exactly they are doing and why.]

[Sunny isn't far behind her sister, watching those giraffes with interest. She's especially watching where those feet go because she is rather small and could easily be stepped on by a careless giraffe.]

Camelopardalis. [Which roughly translates to "How do you think they built all of this without having opposable thumbs or fingers?"]

[She walks a little ahead of her sister, but always mindful of her. Bending down, she shakes her head.]

Maybe they invented something to get around it. An attachable thumb.

[Now this was interesting. Conan watches the giraffes work with keen interest. What could the purpose of this be? After a few moments of observation he begins to creep closer, being careful to stay unnoticed.]

[Sadly, Conan did not go completely unnoticed. After realizing that he was injured, Dairine had made sure to keep an eye on him from time to time. So she spots him moving closer to the escalator and quietly follows suit.]

[He was very competently sneaking forward as he stayed just out of view of the giraffes. And doesn't look around as he raises his voice slightly.]

Is it really necessary to follow me?
