Terre Haute expedition: Camping Day 1

[It's been a more or less uneventful day of travel for the expedition team. Not unexpected for the first leg of such a trip, and with any luck, it will stay that way.

As the sun starts to get low in the sky, Felix signals the group with a sharp whistle to stop, shortly after he feels the change. They've entered the Dead Zone. That sudden loss of power for anyone used to that sort of thing. Not an easy thing to adjust to, at first.]

"We've crossed into the border of the Dead Zone now. We should stop here for the night. Those of you with experience, help set up camp as needed. And I recommend a few of you working out a watch schedule. You never can tell what might be out here."

Okay, so who else brought stuff for smores?

[Damn! She knew she was forgetting something. Aradia plops down nearby because HOLY SHIT, S'MORES.]

I'll take some if there's extra!

I stocked up on all the stuff before we left. Theres plenty. [He tosses her a bag of marshmallows.]

Yay! [She'll catch that and immediately grab a stick.] I am so glad this exists. Humans really know how to camp.

[Lmao exactly like that is fine, it was kind of a rhetorical compliment. She opens up the marshmallows and sticks a couple on the stick to start roasting them, nice and carefully.]

[Danny starts pushing a marshmallow onto the end of a stick.]

....You're kidding. You've never had a smore before? [You poor, poor elf.]

Look, its easy. You roast a marshmallow. Catch it on fire and burn it if you want. Some people like that. Then it goes with chocolate and graham crackers. Easy.

I've never even heard of it. Or of marshmallow.

[Elves just eat really healthy, okay? How do you think he and Galadriel (especially Galadriel if we're being honest here) have such flawless skin?]

[Oh, well okay. It can't hurt. He takes it and pokes at the marshmallow for a second. It doesn't look bad at least. Danny is lucky that it will take more than this to destroy hundreds of yeas of healthy habits.]

Only the one thing that makes camping worthwhile. Here! [He tosses her a stick with a marshmallow stuck on the end.]

[She catches it and stares at it a moment.]

I know! Isn't it awesome!

You're supposed to roast it over the fire.

Won't that set the stick on fire?

[Just kind of chilling by the campfire, watching the others, when she sees Danny jump in. Huh, smores? She doesn't think she's even heard of them, much less prepared for them]

Nope, sorry, I can't say that I have. Buuut...

[Rummages through her bag, and voila! She pulls out a small thing of sausages]

I did bring these. Anyone up for a weenie roast?

[Danny grins.]

Awesome! I'd take some of those.

[Grabs one for herself and hands the rest over to Danny]

So- [skewers her sausage, and hovers the stick over the fire] -I'm guessing this isn't your first trip outside the castle? I mean, you seem pretty relaxed out here.

Second trip, actually. Well, sort of. I ended up sleeping through the seoond half of the last trip. But it wasn't too bad till then.
