Terre Haute expedition: Camping Day 1

[It's been a more or less uneventful day of travel for the expedition team. Not unexpected for the first leg of such a trip, and with any luck, it will stay that way.

As the sun starts to get low in the sky, Felix signals the group with a sharp whistle to stop, shortly after he feels the change. They've entered the Dead Zone. That sudden loss of power for anyone used to that sort of thing. Not an easy thing to adjust to, at first.]

"We've crossed into the border of the Dead Zone now. We should stop here for the night. Those of you with experience, help set up camp as needed. And I recommend a few of you working out a watch schedule. You never can tell what might be out here."

Um, actually you're supposed to hold it just above the fire. You know, not actually in the fire?

Meanwhile, Once-ler is probably screaming in sympathy pain...

Oh. No wonder you said the stick wouldn't catch fire. [Since hers is a little lit.]

Can I try again?

Yeah, hold on. [Good thing he'd brought extras. Danny passes another prepared stick to her.]

Sorry about that. [She takes the new stick.]

Over the fire, like I'm cooking something, right?

[Aaaaand she does so, maybe a little TOO high above the flame, though, since burnt marshmallow kinda stinks.]

Yeah, just like that.

[Works on roasting his own marshmallow.]

[She watches him, and adjusts what she's doing, soon having a browned marshmallow.]

Okay. Now what?

[And not burned marshmallow smells real good.]

[He pulls out the graham crackers and chocolate. And starts making his own smore to show her how.]

Just make a sandwich. Like this.

[Sheena watches him, one brow raised.]

Seriously? O...kay.

[She repeats what he does, then stares at the concoction and him.]

Do I eat it now? Or wait for it to cool?

[Because CHOCOLATE.]

Oh, you eat it now. While its still hot and gooey. [And Danny takes a bite of his.]

[With a shrug, she bites into hers, her eyes widening at the mix of flavors. Swallowing her bite, she looks at him a little accusingly.]

Why didn't you tell me about these things before?

Because you can only make them over campfires?

[She gives him a "WRONG!" look.]

Who says? There are fireplaces in the castle.

Oh. Right. I forgot.

See? You could have had these in the winter--during one of those movie marathons.
