Terre Haute expedition: Camping Day 1

[It's been a more or less uneventful day of travel for the expedition team. Not unexpected for the first leg of such a trip, and with any luck, it will stay that way.

As the sun starts to get low in the sky, Felix signals the group with a sharp whistle to stop, shortly after he feels the change. They've entered the Dead Zone. That sudden loss of power for anyone used to that sort of thing. Not an easy thing to adjust to, at first.]

"We've crossed into the border of the Dead Zone now. We should stop here for the night. Those of you with experience, help set up camp as needed. And I recommend a few of you working out a watch schedule. You never can tell what might be out here."

[Damn! She knew she was forgetting something. Aradia plops down nearby because HOLY SHIT, S'MORES.]

I'll take some if there's extra!

I stocked up on all the stuff before we left. Theres plenty. [He tosses her a bag of marshmallows.]

Yay! [She'll catch that and immediately grab a stick.] I am so glad this exists. Humans really know how to camp.

....Thanks? [How did you respond to something like that.]

[Lmao exactly like that is fine, it was kind of a rhetorical compliment. She opens up the marshmallows and sticks a couple on the stick to start roasting them, nice and carefully.]

[Danny starts out roasting carefully, but then he gets impatient and sets them on fire.]

[Aradia shoots him an amused look.]

Really, Danny?

They're still good. [He's a little defensive about it.]

I'm sure they are! But they are even better this way. [Doop doop rotating that marshmallow just like she's in Bear Grylls The Video Game.]

But that takes too long!

Does not.

Does too. [He's grinning.]

Does not! You can't rush perfect cooking.

Sure you can! Sugar makes up for a lot of things.

[psych0p0mps]

[She scoots up a bit to gesture at his sizzling marshmallow.] Danny, those are third degree sugar burns right there. That marshmallow will never heal. Sugar can't make up for that.

[... meanwhile she isn't quite noticing how close her own marshmallows are to the fire.]

But chocolate can.

[He's watching the location of her marshmallow with anticipation.]

[laughs and gives him a little shove.] That's just more sugar!

[yeeeeeeeah and that puts her marshies a little too close. one of them catches fire!]

[Yep, snickering now.]

[psych0p0mps]

[She assumes he's just laughing with her, and turns back to her marshmallows. Which are on fire.]

- Ah!!

[BLOW IT OUT BLOW IT OUT BLOW IT OUT. fuuuuuck.]

[Yep, still snickering.]

[GENUINE DISTRESS! ... which quickly tones down to mild dismay, once the flames are out.]

Aw, maaan... [shoots Danny a sardonic look.] For the record, I blame you.

Don't mind me. I'm just taking my amusement out of the irony.

[Aradia sighs and rolls her eyes, then plucks the burned marshmallows off the stick. At least, as much of them as will actually come off. GRODY. She offers the sticky mess to Danny.]

Well, here. You like them burnt, you can have these.
