[By now it's clear that the attackers have fled the scene, scattering in several directions of the Dead Zone. All is safe, and at least the giraffes have stopped running in panicked circles.
The attackers certainly left their mark, leaving behind a trail of destruction that can be traced back to the site of the monolith's crash. Smoke still billows out as the fires die out, but there seems to be no sign of life among the debris.
What is that thing? You now know that whatever it is, it's responsible for bringing those creatures to Terre Haute. While the giraffes return to their "normal" lives and others begin to pack up for travel, there may not be another chance to explore the crash site. If you want to explore it, now's the time.]

A room with a lot of important looking things sticking out of it. [He moves down the corridor, looking into a room as he passes but not getting too far ahead of the light.] Unless they run the whole thing telepathically.

We shouldn't go too deep or take too long. The main control room, the bridge as it were, I would imagine is in the section that is buried. Secondary and even tertiary control rooms though, even a terminal, might give us some information.
[The floor he finds is sloping downwards slightly and from somewhere much deeper inside he hears a clatter. It could be something... Could be more of the ship breaking away inside. Never the less he comes to a stop, listening for more.]

Wouldn't be the first, I'd bet. [Some places have seriously advanced technology. If there are ships that run on vocal command? Telepathy couldn't be far behind.]
Only way to go is up then.
[Oh wait, what's that sound? Dairine stops, holding onto her bow a bit tighter, and stares into the darkness.]

Yeah, well. Might as well take the tour.
[Before the whole place decides to collapse on them.]

[His hand hovers over Dairine's shoulder. Head tilted, his hearing is keener than a human's and so far he hears nothing more. Nodding at Spike, he whispers anyway.]
Up it is then. Keep on the lookout for terminals, anything that looks interesting.

[She whispers as well. Best not to be caught unaware.]

Any time now...]
