After packing up camp and heading up, they reach their destination only an hour north.

The tomb is just a little off the road, a massive door with intricate carvings around the frame in an unknown script. The characters in the script are made up entirely by straight lines. Given that straight lines lend themselves well to carving, it may indicate that whoever created this script was used to carving in stone. The door looks like it will open, as the hinges are intact, but it's ridiculously heavy and will need a lot of people to pull on those big carved handles.

Oh, come now, nothing's going to happen. [poke. He pauses for a moment, juuust to make sure that the temple doesn't have some weird sense of humor or something]

[Hellboy looks around too, when the Doctor pauses.]

If something awful appears and tries to eat us, I'm blaming you.

[smirks at him] Hellboy, have I ever told you what I do? Something coming along and attempting to eat us? That's a typical Tuesday

[He returns with a flat look, though he's just joking. Mostly.] Then you should be used to getting blamed for stuff like that too.

[He nods, his eyes looking a little sad]

For more than most people even realize.

[Oh, jeez ...]

Hey, I didn't mean to ...

[He waves it off]

No, no. I've been traveling for a thousand years, bound to ruffle a feather or two.

I can imagine. If I had a thousand years under my belt, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be standing. I ever tell you how I pissed off the Baba Yaga?

[He raises an eyebrow] I don't believe you did. What did you do?

I shot out her eye.

So we're not exactly on the best terms.

Her eye? Why did you go and do a thing like that?

It was an accident. Sort of.

[A pause.] Do you know what she does, back in Russia? She takes children from their homes. And I've seen too many little bones where too many little kids have gone missing.

So I tried to stop her, and my gun went off. Of all the times to be a lousy shot, I guess.

[He shrugs, spinning around to face Hellboy]

How interesting, these alternate universes. I've met Baba Yaga, you know. And I know for a fact she didn't die from a gunshot to the eye. At least, not in my universe. It was a bit of a mess in my universe, actually. I can't say that it was my finest save, but there you go.

Well. I didn't say it killed her. [She just kind of ... disappeared for awhile? And then spent decades trying to wrench out Hellboy's eye in revenge? It's a thing.]

Oh, really. What's she look like where you're from? Same horrible, ugly thing, riding around in that chicken leg contraption?

Didn't kill her? You must really be a lousy shot, then. [He winks with a laugh]

Oh, yes. Somehow I think there are some things that are constants in any universe.

[He is a terrible shot actually, but he just nods, grinning in his unnerving way a little bit.]

That's comforting. I guess.

[Oddly enough, that grin doesn't unnerve him in the least. He grins crookedly right back]

It means that our universes may not be as different as many would like to believe.

As long as the sky's still blue and grass is still green, I think we'll do alright.

Oh, I don't know. I don't think the colors have much to do with it. I've been to some incredible places with differently colored skies and plant life.

Now, that's really something. The most I've been to is -- well, the Baba Yaga's world. Which wasn't that great.

[He leans back on the podium, looking a little wistful]

My home planet had a burnt orange sky. The trees were silver.

Jeez. Makes Earth sound a little dull.

[He laughs] Oh don't sell it short. Earth is still one of my favorite places to visit.

Like vacationing in the country, huh?

Something like that [he laughs] Though it usually ends up with me saving it.
