Winchester/Fairfield Expedition - The Town of Fairfield
[You saw the towns some time ago, but it still took a good couple hours of treading past the farmland around it before you actually reached it. They have a distinctly "old western" type of feel to them, with their dusty, unpaved dirt roads and the collection of buildings-- most of them obviously wooden-- sitting side-by-side along either side of the road.
More observant residents may notice that the nearer they come to the town, the more people that look up and notice, and subsequently hurry off or head inside. And even if you didn't notice it as you closed in, it sure becomes apparent once you step under the archway of the town; there's no one around. The tumbleweed that rolls by almost seems to be mocking the residents.
Another thing that becomes apparent is the state of the town. Besides having gone eerily quiet, some of the buildings have been wrecked. There are gouges in the wood, where it hasn't been punched through or torn apart. Rails are broken, and a few of them even have damaged or missing doors.
Are they too late?]

Why? Is this group a group of survivors from Cair Draconis?
no subject
That would be us. ...So you did find it. Damnit, did it get out? Have your people been infected? Or did it remain dormant? [At least he seems genuinely concerned]
no subject
Yeah- we found it alright. We didn't know what was going on, so it infected our castle's residence- but then we cured it before it got too out of control.
We even put up a better warning signs afterward. So...there you go!
no subject
You...you cured yourselves? Your castle let you do that? Well, I'm glad. We never wanted anyone else to contract it, and at the time, everyone knew what happened to Draconis, so the castle's symbol was all the warning needed.
Looks like Nostos decided to screw us over on that one. My apologies.

[he shrugs] Hey, don't worry about it. Accidental infections happen. Buuuut if you wanna make it up to us, I'm sure a lot of us have a lot of questions we'd like answered about this land or the castles.
no subject
[Brewer nods] We'd be more than welcome to help. We've been living on the main continent for a few years now. We might not have all the answers, but any we can give, you're welcome to.

[So trying to put pieces together in his head. This is a good opporutnity. It's hard to say when he'll get another chance]
Thanks, you're a good guy. Other stuff can wait...but I have to say, I've always been wondering:
Why did Paradisa empty out before? You sounded like you thought it had been abandoned.

[HOW. ANNOYING. ]
- Wait, your Insolitus? What about using your Insolitus for travel?
no subject
You haven't found them yet? [What is wrong with Paradisa, is it broken?] If you go into your Insolitus, there should be some arrows to follow. They'll lead you to five doors. Five doors, five castles. Each has a symbol on it, the symbol for each individual castle. If you have the key, you can open the door and travel into that castle's Insolitus.
I'm not sure how much use it would be now. But if Paradisa repopulated, maybe the others have, too. [Though dear god he hopes Draconis didn't]
no subject
[he frowns. Wait, if he put the sigil of Draconis at Totem Coast and that's the case- that explains why the sigil is on that door in the Insolitus huh?]
Really? Huh...we saw the doors, but we didn't know that part. [he shakes his head] And I've never seen any keys, so that's out anyway.
But whatever- how many people do you got? Are any of them fighters? We got a lot with us, but I'd like to know our odds facing these bug guys.
no subject
There's about thirty of us left. But not a lot of us are fighters, those guys got took out pretty fast when the plague hit, either by being infected themselves or trying to be heroes. We've got a few who could fight, if they were pushed.
no subject
[Probably for the better anyway. Do not want to accidentally visit Draconis- in fact let's seal that door off when I get back after I look up python]
Right, makes sense. [he shrugs] Well, we'll just give it our all. We're no pushovers in our own right, don't worry!
no subject
Thank you, once we get this place at least semi defensive, they might leave us alone.
no subject
Yeah, I sure hope so. You guys have been through enough.
no subject
Hmmm, all we want now is a place to settle, and this seems perfect.
no subject
Well...I guess if you're into boon- small towns, sure.

no subject
[Still, he'd rather go home]
Well, home's a home I guess. We'll do everything we can to help.
no subject
Thanks, that means a lot.

[And he's going to go back to letting other people handle the conversation.]
