Terre Haute

[Today, our intrepid explorers have finally made it to Terre Haute. It’s mostly grassland, and on the outskirts small spotted lions, about the size of leopards prowl around. They seem to be more interested in the strange antelope running around than in any people, however. Towards the edge, lies a cliff face, looking out to sea, on occasion giant whales can be seen breaching the water.

Of the weird thing they came to look for, in the distance is a cylindrical shape, lying on its side. But between them and it is a strange village. One made up of excessively tall wooden huts, all of which have electric lights, turned on, though how they’re creating such power is a mystery, they are still very much inside the dead zone.

The residents of this off little village are wandering around, going about their buisess. The residents being a group of bemused looking giraffes. Perhaps you will even see some familiar non-giraffe faces milling about.

They're... special, to say the least. [ Ken puts his hands on his lap, his cup resting between the, ] If you were to ask how an athropomorphized colony of giraffes would live, this wouldn't have been my first guess.

Nor mine. [She sighs, and leans against the juice bar counter.] Nor would I have expected anything like this. Then again, nothing is ever what it seems here.

[ Ken turns his head to look at her, tilting a little. ] Yeah... It doesn't get any more reasonable. How long have you been at the castle?

[cyan_maid]

It will have been one whole year in June. [She looks at you, too.] What about you? And how exactly did you end up so far away from it?

[kindnessing]

Ah... I'm not entirely sure. [ Ken puts his cup aside and leans to rest his elbows on his legs and his chin on his hands. ] Is it still April? That's the last month I remember spending in Paradisa... I'm in the middle of my third year here. After that, I was back home for about six months... I was about to step into a subway car, and I found myself stepping out of one of the huts here... That's what I know for sure.

[cyan_maid]

[She nods.] Yes, it's April. So it's pulled you back in after sending you home, then...I'm sorry to hear that.

[kindnessing]

[ Ken smiles a little. ] Thanks, but it's all right. I got to see my friends from home again. That's enough for me.

[cyan_maid]

Hm...

[She shrugs and gives him a half-smile back.] I'd rather keep my friends where I can see them, and not worry about them while I'm here.

[kindnessing]

[ He nods. That's perfectly understandable! ]

Are a lot of your friends from home at the castle now? [ He hopes so, if she feels that strongly about it. ]

[cyan_maid]

Not all of them. Just two.

[She'll be down to one when she gets home, she just doesn't know it yet.]

[kindnessing]

[ DD| oh nooooooooo... ]

That's really fortunate. [ Well, as long as you don't think about the implications too hard. ] It gets easier to trust that your friends will be all right without you at home, but it's not the same as having them with you.
