Terre Haute
[Today, our intrepid explorers have finally made it to Terre Haute. It’s mostly grassland, and on the outskirts small spotted lions, about the size of leopards prowl around. They seem to be more interested in the strange antelope running around than in any people, however. Towards the edge, lies a cliff face, looking out to sea, on occasion giant whales can be seen breaching the water.
Of the weird thing they came to look for, in the distance is a cylindrical shape, lying on its side. But between them and it is a strange village. One made up of excessively tall wooden huts, all of which have electric lights, turned on, though how they’re creating such power is a mystery, they are still very much inside the dead zone.
The residents of this off little village are wandering around, going about their buisess. The residents being a group of bemused looking giraffes. Perhaps you will even see some familiar non-giraffe faces milling about.
Welcome to Terre Haute]

You seem to be taking it a lot better, though, and it's not much of an advantage if I don't use it properly. [ thanks. :D ] Is this your first time away from the castle?

No, I went on an expedition before, and I am used to traveling in such a manner, if not to such places. I suppose being surprised is almost to much energy at this point, though it is all quite surprising nonetheless. Such animals I have never seen before. They're quite magnificent.

Heh, I know, I have been here two when my anniversary this year comes up.
[ He smiles softly at him. ]
How else could you describe the creatures here? The Frost Drakes are beautiful, if deadly, but they are so different from the people here, the animals I saw from the cliffs and the plains.

Er... well. [ ... he doesn't want to say something unkind... he formulates his words carefully. ] Those creatures... yes. I've never expected to see anything like them besides at a zoo or on TV, so arriving here was a real surprise. The giraffes are a, um, different matter, though.

Giraffes is what they are called then?
[ He glanced at the creatures that might just as well be called bar tenders. ]
The giant ones in the sea I heard are called whales, and out on the plains there are large cats and thin, small deer.

Ken... Africa is continent
Lions? Oh, I've heard of them, but I have never seen one. Gazelle's are new to me - it is a wonder their legs support them, but they do look rather quick don't they?
... open mouth, insert entire foot. would you like to assume that he said continent for my sake? ;;
Whose Line Is It Anyways? moment lol XD
Well, neither do I, so it seems we are on equal footing again. They look similar to deer, though, so I think they might not be so different.

Hmm, I have come to understand it is considered a 'medieval' style world. We are land-locked, as it were, with plenty of forests and rivers and room enough for farms, with all four seasons in their turn.

I come from a what would be considered a later era, I think... Perhaps we're from the same world?
no subject
Perhaps, though I could not say. My world has magic. If yours does not, then I rather doubt it.

Well, I hail from the country from Valdemar, if that helps any. We're a small nation, but prosperous in our way. I suppose it must be like any other nation, though we are different from our Karsite neighbors. We allow free religion, and our women have much more freedom and less restriction than Karsite does.
Oh, and we have the Heralds, of course.
no subject
Those are some new names to me... What are heralds? Besides, um, the obvious, I suppose.
no subject
I am one. actually. We act in the name of the Crown to aide the people of our country, and Heralds always have Gifts. I have quite a few, in my case, but normally a Herald only has one. And they are always Chosen by the Companions, and are paired for life.

Yes, that's right.
Myself, I am in charge of the magical security of my country and I also advise my king. I do not go on circuit as often as I used to, but I do go and when I do it is usually to dispense justice among the small towns and to witness things.

Ah, she is called Yfandes and all Companions look like white horses. Except, they are smart and magical. Smarter than their Heralds, at times.
[ His mouth quirked fondly. ]

[ He nodded and motioned. ]
Outside. She cannot quite make it into establishments like these.
