Terre Haute

[Today, our intrepid explorers have finally made it to Terre Haute. It’s mostly grassland, and on the outskirts small spotted lions, about the size of leopards prowl around. They seem to be more interested in the strange antelope running around than in any people, however. Towards the edge, lies a cliff face, looking out to sea, on occasion giant whales can be seen breaching the water.

Of the weird thing they came to look for, in the distance is a cylindrical shape, lying on its side. But between them and it is a strange village. One made up of excessively tall wooden huts, all of which have electric lights, turned on, though how they’re creating such power is a mystery, they are still very much inside the dead zone.

The residents of this off little village are wandering around, going about their buisess. The residents being a group of bemused looking giraffes. Perhaps you will even see some familiar non-giraffe faces milling about.

I would assume so. The tree my castle is built in is called 'The Elder Tree', both name and title.

It makes more sense than 'Stuart'.

I suppose so, but why shouldn't the tree have a name? Or maybe the tree is more representational and not an actual image of this 'Stuart'.

Then why no just plant another tree?

Perhaps they could not. Perhaps it is against their religion or maybe it was the wish of this 'Stuart'.

This is giving me a headache.

[He starts to circle the tree a bit, prodding with his foot for any irregularities]

I wish I could sense if there was any magic here. The Dead Zone should have terminated around here somewhere. Or so we thought.

So we thought, but perhaps it's influence does not appear in such a straight line as we believed.

Or it extends to this area for another reason...

Or that too. It seems the far more likely.

It will be hard to tell until we can check the other location along the coast.

True enough, and we both know how assuming things about anything in this world can backfire horribly.

I suppose. Though I won't deny I had hoped I could be more than academically useful on this trip...
