Terre Haute

[Today, our intrepid explorers have finally made it to Terre Haute. It’s mostly grassland, and on the outskirts small spotted lions, about the size of leopards prowl around. They seem to be more interested in the strange antelope running around than in any people, however. Towards the edge, lies a cliff face, looking out to sea, on occasion giant whales can be seen breaching the water.

Of the weird thing they came to look for, in the distance is a cylindrical shape, lying on its side. But between them and it is a strange village. One made up of excessively tall wooden huts, all of which have electric lights, turned on, though how they’re creating such power is a mystery, they are still very much inside the dead zone.

The residents of this off little village are wandering around, going about their buisess. The residents being a group of bemused looking giraffes. Perhaps you will even see some familiar non-giraffe faces milling about.

Welcome to Terre Haute

Indeed... [Lemony is sketching out a rough map of their surroundings]. Unless somehow all the residents here were transmogrified into giraffes..... Which is highly unlikely behavior for a meteor.

Even so, there would be a little damage at least, don't you think? Like to the tree, or to the ground! Little huts can be rebuilt - though I can't imagine how giraffes could manage it - but the land isn't nearly as timely. At least, I don't think so.

No, not at all. The only sign of construction I can see is that tall structure over there..... [he points to the wooden escalator]
cyan_maid: (Huh?! With blush)

[She looks where he's pointing, and her eyes widen.] Oh, my! Now that IS an oddity. There's no way a giraffe could have done that. They would need thumbs!

Not to mention extensive understanding of the basic principles of engineering, woodworking, and some system of standard measurement.

It had to have been built by somebody else - and recently enough for it to be in such a state! [She shakes her head.] I can barely wrap my head around it all!
