paradisabeyond | Terre Haute

[Today, our intrepid explorers have finally made it to Terre Haute. It’s mostly grassland, and on the outskirts small spotted lions, about the size of leopards prowl around. They seem to be more interested in the strange antelope running around than in any people, however. Towards the edge, lies a cliff face, looking out to sea, on occasion giant whales can be seen breaching the water.

Of the weird thing they came to look for, in the distance is a cylindrical shape, lying on its side. But between them and it is a strange village. One made up of excessively tall wooden huts, all of which have electric lights, turned on, though how they’re creating such power is a mystery, they are still very much inside the dead zone.

The residents of this off little village are wandering around, going about their buisess. The residents being a group of bemused looking giraffes. Perhaps you will even see some familiar non-giraffe faces milling about.

[Tsuna jumps when he's suddenly addressed. HE'S BEEN SPOTTED. .. wait, did that giraffe just talk to him? ... more importantly, is that giraffe wearing glasses?]

[The giraffe gestures to the mirror in front of him]

We are changing reflections, of course. That should explain everything.

[BUT HE DOESN'T GET IT AT ALL also did this giraffe seriously just call him smart-looking? That's quite possibly the first time he's ever been called that and yet he almost feels insulted.]

[There's something nagging him at the back of his mind about the place, and it's not the crazy mirrors or talking giraffes.]

So, are you planning to stay long? Or have you just arrived to take away our sudden guests?

--eh? Sudden guests? The other humans, you mean? We're just passing through.

Those are them, yes! Funny how they just appeared during the week. But if you are passing through, I am afraid there is only the sea ahead of you, and that is full of the whales.

We're not planning to go out to sea. Actually, we came here because we saw something fall from the sky around this area about a week ago.

[... he's not sure what it says about him that holding a conversation with a talking giraffe really isn't that weird to him anymore. Probably that he's been in Paradisa too long.]

H-hold on, are you guys using electricity?

Of course! We hate the dark, we wish to stay in the light at all times and so we need electricity to do that.

Eh? But we can't get anything to work out in the dead zone!

[... this is still the dead zone, right? He briefly searches for his flames within him, but finds them gone. Still the dead zone.]

That's because you're not giraffes.

Because giraffes have a much better intellect due to our patches.
