Terre Haute

[Today, our intrepid explorers have finally made it to Terre Haute. It’s mostly grassland, and on the outskirts small spotted lions, about the size of leopards prowl around. They seem to be more interested in the strange antelope running around than in any people, however. Towards the edge, lies a cliff face, looking out to sea, on occasion giant whales can be seen breaching the water.

Of the weird thing they came to look for, in the distance is a cylindrical shape, lying on its side. But between them and it is a strange village. One made up of excessively tall wooden huts, all of which have electric lights, turned on, though how they’re creating such power is a mystery, they are still very much inside the dead zone.

The residents of this off little village are wandering around, going about their buisess. The residents being a group of bemused looking giraffes. Perhaps you will even see some familiar non-giraffe faces milling about.

[Oh she's taking a look, but she's taking a look from up close. If she just gets a little closer, she'll be able to read their body language better...]

[Sup Cass. The Once-ler will be watching from the sidelines, a touch worried]

Um...Cass? You-you know those are lions right?

[hellofist]

[Oh hi, Once! Cass waves, but instead of doing the safe thing and going back to him, she creeps forward a little more.]

Not hungry for us. Want the... deer things. Come look.

[NO Cass don't get eaten by things]

...Are you sure? Because those are some pretty sharp teeth right there.

[He'll crouch as low as he can (which isn't much) and follow her]

[Yeah but think of how awesome a battle wound that would be!]

It's okay, will protect you.

[NO battle wounds, Steph and Tim would kill him :|]

You know, some guys might find that a tiny bit insulting, but me? I'm going to appreciate it.

[hellofist]

Good. Saves time.

[There's an outcropping of rocks not far from where the lions are lounging in the sun, so Cass leads the way to that so they'll have something to hide behind while they watch.]

They're... lions? You've seen them?

[He'll crouch to hide, god it sucks to be tall]

They are lions, but they're not like lions I have back home. ...Buuuut most of the animals I have from back home are far from what most people call normal.

[hellofist]

[Cass wouldn't know, she's always been incredibly short in relation to all the people around her. That's what happens when the base height for being a male super hero is six feet, apparently.]

Why? What made them... different, from normal?

[Damnit DC, look what you did to her perspective]

They're usually just a tan brown colour, and they're a lot bigger.

[hellofist]

[At least that's not the worst of what DC did to her? Sob.]

They're not scared. Not... running, from people noise. Most animals do. Wonder why...

[DC, NO]

It could be that they're just not used to humans. You know, maybe humans never really come out here, so they'd have no reason to be afraid of us.

[hellofist]

I like that. They shouldn't be... scared of people. Shouldn't have to be.

[She leans her arms on the rock and rests her chin on them to watch the lions again. After a moment, she points to one of them.]

That one's... head lion. One in charge.

[secondchances]

Cass? You might not wanna get too close to them...

[hellofist]

Why not? They're not... interested in us.

[secondchances]

Let's not make them interested in us.

[hellofist]

You're the one... making the noise.

[If protesting a general lack of self preservation counts as making noise, anyway.]

[secondchances]

But I'm stay away!

[hellofist]

Think they'll... let me pet them?

[secondchances]

No! No petting lions!

[hellofist]

Teasing.

[But in the interest of not letting Steph have heart attacks, she backs away from the lions and toward her friend.]

Can you give... something better than lions? Will go with you, then.

[secondchances]

[Steph looks around, then slowly points at herself. Better than lions??? She hopes so!]

[hellofist]

[She's just so smart. Cass closes the last of the distance between the two of them so she can hug Steph.]

Always better.

[secondchances]

[Just as planned. Steph hugs her back, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.]

C'mon, we should check out the town.

[hellofist]

[She leans into Steph's hand and nods, perfectly content to follow her wherever she wants to go.]
