Terre Haute

[Today, our intrepid explorers have finally made it to Terre Haute. It’s mostly grassland, and on the outskirts small spotted lions, about the size of leopards prowl around. They seem to be more interested in the strange antelope running around than in any people, however. Towards the edge, lies a cliff face, looking out to sea, on occasion giant whales can be seen breaching the water.

Of the weird thing they came to look for, in the distance is a cylindrical shape, lying on its side. But between them and it is a strange village. One made up of excessively tall wooden huts, all of which have electric lights, turned on, though how they’re creating such power is a mystery, they are still very much inside the dead zone.

The residents of this off little village are wandering around, going about their buisess. The residents being a group of bemused looking giraffes. Perhaps you will even see some familiar non-giraffe faces milling about.

[Frowning further,] That doesn't explain anything.

[ Huh. ]

Where did you come from?

[The fact is that she doesn't know how she got here, just that she woke up in a field about half a mile out, fully armored and unable to use it properly. Before that, she'd been on Sidewinder.]

Sidewinder.

[It would make sense if her father had found her, but she'd not seen him yet.] You're not with the UNSC.

...No. I don't know what that is. Are you a First Gen?

[youfallback]

[Carolina pales at the mention of the familiar term.]

What did you just say? [Her voice is terse and hurried, every word demanding.]

[wolfchild]

I asked if you're a First Gen.

[ Just in case, she thumbs the knife hidden up her sleeve. ]

[youfallback]

[Hearing it again just confirms that combination of fear and anger rising up in her.]

You came from the Castle.

[wolfchild]

[ She frowns. ]

What is it?

[youfallback]

[Carolina glances out at the rest of the group before back at Arya. She really doesn't want to be here right now.]

Who came with you?

[wolfchild]

A lot of people. Who are you?

[youfallback]

Not a First Gen. [She doesn't want to give out her name if there was an expedition that headed out wherever they were.] How many?

[Because right now it's looking like a lot.]

[wolfchild]

I didn't count. [ She stole along :x ]

[youfallback]

[Carolina can't help but glower, but it's more out of the frustration of not knowing than anger toward Arya.]

Why did your group come out here?

[wolfchild]

Something fell. You seen it?

[youfallback]

No. [She glances back out at the rest of the group again before turning her attention back to Arya.]

[wolfchild]

[ She shrugs. ]

Too bad.

[youfallback]

[Carolina pauses and stares for a moment or two.] You came out because something fell down?

[wolfchild]

[ She came out because people told her no but— ] Yes.

[youfallback]

[Carolina mentally rolls her eyes at whoever decided to come out on what looked to be an expedition.] And leave the entire Castle undefended.

[wolfchild]

[ She laughs. ]

It can defend itself. It's not like this is everyone anyway.

[youfallback]

Anyone capable usually comes on these. [Carolina snorts.]

[wolfchild]

Not this time. Not with the city as it is.

[youfallback]

[Frowning,] What happened to the city.

[wolfchild]

There was an earthquake. When whatever it was fell. A lot of it still isn't fixed.

[youfallback]

And you left the city in shambles to come out here for something that fell. [Carolina has no idea how this expedition even got off the ground.]
