paradisabeyond | Terre Haute

[Today, our intrepid explorers have finally made it to Terre Haute. It’s mostly grassland, and on the outskirts small spotted lions, about the size of leopards prowl around. They seem to be more interested in the strange antelope running around than in any people, however. Towards the edge, lies a cliff face, looking out to sea, on occasion giant whales can be seen breaching the water.

Of the weird thing they came to look for, in the distance is a cylindrical shape, lying on its side. But between them and it is a strange village. One made up of excessively tall wooden huts, all of which have electric lights, turned on, though how they’re creating such power is a mystery, they are still very much inside the dead zone.

The residents of this off little village are wandering around, going about their buisess. The residents being a group of bemused looking giraffes. Perhaps you will even see some familiar non-giraffe faces milling about.

Wh-what the heck? It feels like I've been dropped in Africa!

I don't know what Africa is, but I'm definitely wondering how edible some of those are.

I'm not sure yet. I need to watch them for a little while, see how they move.

J-jeez... [Although, I guess it is fresh meat, but still...

And then he sees movement in the distance and stiffens.]

[he is a hunter from a place where they eat dog stew because it is ALL THEY HAVE SOMETIMES okay. he will kill and cook just about anything. but when Tsuna freezes, he's already reaching for the knife at his belt. if something's coming at them, he needs to be ready]

You know what these things are?

[Tsuna looks at Zelos.] Yeah, Africa is a continent on Earth.

[He points.] The ones with the really long necks are giraffes, and then the ones with long horns.. I think they're supposed to be some kind of antelope? [he hasn't quite seen antelope like these before but well whatever, paradisa.]

Oh right! I think I've read that on some map.

[Earth you have too many locations okay]

Giraffes and antelope huh? Can't say we have those where I'm from...

What about that? [pointing to the spotted lion skulking towards a herd]

[Tsuna looks over, and stiffens.]

Th-that looks like a lion!

Really?

[He'll look over at it, totally ignoring Tsuna's fear]

I think I've heard of those- I thought they'd be bigger! [LIKE CHIMERAS]

[And then Tsuna takes a second look.]

... it does seem kind of small, actually. Maybe it's not fully grown yet.

Yeah, maybe.

Still, it could probably kill us dead if it got too near!

[He says that so cheerfully...]

[H-how can he say stuff like that so cheerfully?!]

J-jeez, I don't know if I could fight off a lion..

Yeah, I don't know if I would be able too either.

[COMFORTING...]

Well, we'd better tell the others to make sure they're aware.

Hey good idea! You can do that, I'll go check out the town.

...town? You mean those huts over there? [derp a herp hasn't realized the giraffes live there...]

Yep! I know it's probably hard to tell for you, but those are buildings- not plants. So maybe someone's there!

... I think I can tell huts apart from plants, Zelos.
