Terre Haute Expedition: Paradisa Town

[After a long few days of traveling, the expedition team has reached past it's halfway point! And as such, they decide to make rest at a place that had once been the target of a previous expedition:]


Paradisa Town
Note: Talking Animal People and Actually Happy Once-ler Not Included

[A small cutesy village that once served as a world change location, it has now been abandoned of all it's previous residents. Though it's condition hardly looks like a place that hasn't been lived in for years- instead it has the condition that everyone just stepped out for awhile. There are more than enough small houses to fit everyone, so it's a nice break from sleeping on the ground (for some anyway). It's also a good place to stock up if you're one of those explorers that forgot things such as food and spare clothing. That is, if you don't mind peaches and fish and really gaudy clothing.]

Our Father in Heaven. ...God.

[ Duh. No, she sort of expects this girl to be clueless by now. Heathens everywhere she trips, and used to it. ]

I am Anne Boleyn, crowned consort of his Majesty King Henry the Eighth of England, and Lady Regent of Cair Paradisa.

[ino]

Oh ... right. That guy.

[ AWKWARD. ]

Well, it's nice to meet you ... Anne? [ dude that is so many titles what does she even call you ... and what even is a regent of paradisa ]

[ensorceler]

Your Majesty. [ She gently corrects, not entirely expecting the girl to follow. The most foreign could be the most stubborn. ] Or Highness, or Queen Anne, if you please.

[ino]

... Right.

[ she pauses, taking a moment to rinse off. she hesitates before she speaks again, because she knows it might not matter, and it might even offend her, but -- ] Not to be rude, but ... you do know those titles don't mean much here, right?

[ensorceler]

[ She crouches down to dip her hair in the water, carefully rinsing it off, waiting until so that she can push it away from her eyes to look to the young woman. ]

My titles were bestowed to me by my benevolent prince's own hand, before God and the English people's eyes. They are as important, no, more important to me than mine own Christian name.

So I carry it as you do your name, Mistress Ino, closely to my heart and with a fierce grip. Should that not be enough?

[ino]

[ okay ... some of that went over her head, but -- ]

That's not quite what I mean. [ she pauses, thinking ... ] I guess what I'm asking is, do you really only call yourself that because it's important to you, personally? Or do you expect there to be certain favors and privileges that come with it once people know what you are?

[ensorceler]

[ Anne dislikes what direction this has headed towards, though she's grown accustomed with it. She just hates to think of her interaction with this girl souring before she can even benefit from her knowledge and connections. Her words are chosen with care, but she sounds no less authoritative despite sitting in a river. ]

I had expected to receive the same respect here that I might any other country I visit with his Majesty, but I have been here long enough to understand how little the people care for foreign diplomacy. Regardless, I took it upon myself to try and bring the residents of the castle from the depths of their despair, and will continue to do so, whether they call me queen or not. You will soon see what I am capable of, and then perhaps what we are all capable of.

[ino]

[ well, that ... actually gets ino to relax, a little. she doesn't care for people who aren't willing to prove they're worthy of the respect they seem to want, but so long as anne is willing to do that, she figures they'll get along just fine ]

Fair enough.

[ensorceler]

[ Oh good, that went well. Her father would be proud. ]

What brought you on this progress, Mistress Ino? You fear no danger?

[ino]

I've been here for several years. Any chance to get away from the castle -- and maybe find some helpful information about it -- is a chance I jump at.

[ she splashes some water on her face ]

[ensorceler]

I cannot imagine... How do you cope? How is it you have not already fled for the good of it?

[ino]

Where would I go to? At least at the castle, I have good friends and allies that I know I can count on.

[ she pauses, for a moment ... ]

... It's hard being away from home for so long. But it's not all bad.

[ensorceler]

You have found pleasures here to ease the passing time?

[ino]

Yeah, I guess that's one way to put it.

[ she reaches for a towel on the shore, lifting herself out of the water. dat butt ]

[ensorceler]

[ DAMN GIRL. Anne's not intimidated or anything, but she's polite enough not to look. ]
