Terre Haute Expedition: Paradisa Town

[After a long few days of traveling, the expedition team has reached past it's halfway point! And as such, they decide to make rest at a place that had once been the target of a previous expedition:]


Paradisa Town
Note: Talking Animal People and Actually Happy Once-ler Not Included

[A small cutesy village that once served as a world change location, it has now been abandoned of all it's previous residents. Though it's condition hardly looks like a place that hasn't been lived in for years- instead it has the condition that everyone just stepped out for awhile. There are more than enough small houses to fit everyone, so it's a nice break from sleeping on the ground (for some anyway). It's also a good place to stock up if you're one of those explorers that forgot things such as food and spare clothing. That is, if you don't mind peaches and fish and really gaudy clothing.]

[yeah it's okay, he'll snap himself out of that- oh when did that lady get here interesting!] Eh? Ah- hello!

[Oh that guy is in there he'll peek in after him]

Make sure it's a clean house before you go in there!

[ She inclines her head in a nod at the strange white-haired devil-marked teenager (none of this is real) before following the Once-ler inside. Clutching at her skirt with one hand, she peers about, shocked at the size. Even for herself... ]

Did only dwarves reside here?

[ Finding a cupboard, Anne opens it curiously, wondering if there are any treasures or clues. ]

Well, if no one's been in it for a while, it's probably not all that clean.

[Oh hey he can stand up in this thing...just about]

It kinda looks that way, doesn't it?

[Wow she barely...noticed his existence. Sheesh. Since he's not really eager to deal with those things, he'll stay outside. There's probably not enough room for all three of them to stand in there anyway]

[But ew, what was that skittering across that window there?]

Ah- guys?

[ Anne is inspecting a plate from the cupboard, hoping maybe the design will give her a clue as to origin, when the strange boy speaks up again. She doesn't even know what he means, but she turns anyway.

Only to scream bloody murder and drop the plate. ]

[The Once-ler turns to her scream, from where he was trying his best not to scrape his skull against the ceiling]

...You didn't mention the pest problem! That's kind of a important thing to mention!!!

[He'd throw a shoe at it but manoeuvrability is not his friend right now]

[A groan. Well they both seem pretty useless. so he'll be getting in there and pushing Once-ler out of the way since you're between him and the roach]

I tried to! That's why I told you to make sure it's clean before going in!

[And great, he is not taking off his shoe if there's more. So instead he'll used the next best thing- his cutting knife! Excuse him as he moves to stab that roach- die roach die B( ]

[Wow, sure did hear that scream after that guy Anne was hanging out with and some other guy went in with her. Spike shows up by the window, peering in to see someone with a knife. (Son of a bitch, guys, really?)

Having his gun handy, he pulls it out and takes a shot through the window when he sees something scatter across the wall. Anne, wave if you're not dead.]

[ Another scream as she watches the violence (YES STAB IT STAB IT MAKE IT SCREAM), and at the loud gunshot, only to see where it's coming from. The deer-in-headlights stillness is immediately abandoned, and Anne tries not to trip over her skirt so she can rush to another corner, then out the door, knocking the Once-ler over if necessary. ]

Beasts! Kill them all!

[Yeah, because that's what he needs right now. Bullets in a space he can hardly move in. But hey, thanks for knocking him over, Anne, maybe on the floor he can't get SHOT]

Why does this always happen? EVERY time. [He'll raise his voice a little, in the hopes that Spike can hear him] Hey. HEY! If you could stop opening fire on me, that'd be great.

[Okay so he was feeling that bug murdering was pretty cool but- WHOA HOLY CRAP GUNFIRE?! Like a good kid that's been raised by a gun nut, he is yelling and crouching low on the ground because WHAT THE HEY]

What the-?!

[He's luckily a good enough shot not to hit anything he doesn't mean to. But once Anne comes running out, he lowers the gun. (Not that he cares a whole lot about this or anything.)

After considering leaving it at that, he taps on the window. Beasts...]

Anyone dead in there?

[ensorceler]

[ Anne stays behind Spike, at least having stopped screaming not that she's out of immediate danger and has a human shield. She'll tentatively peek around him, one hand over her racing heart.

She didn't even have a chance to see what they were, only that they were huge and creepy crawly and absolutely evil. ]

This house must be burned! It is infested. Master Once-ler, young man, come out of there immediately!

[Why does he come on these things? Why can't he just give himself a quiet life? Away from people who do crazy things like fire into occupied building or suggest they get SET ON FIRE? He's sure he'd be a lot happier and have a lot less stress in his life if he avoided that]

...Ooooof course it's gotta be burned.

[He'll groan and awkwardly pick himself up, ducking out of the tiny house again, casting Spike a look as he does so]

Y'know. When people die out here, they die for good. Just pointing that out there. In case you didn't know. I'm figuring you wouldn't know, or else you wouldn't have started shooting while people were in there.

[He'll move to get up as well, following Once out of the house]

Burn?! It's just large cockroaches, there's no need to burn all the building down!

Cockroaches?

[Spike looks behind him at Anne, who still seems like she's about to have a heart attack. And not because he took a harmless shot at the window. Whatever he saw looked... well, like a giant cockroach, he supposes.

...And finally, giving Once-ler a glance of acknowledgement -- like he would have missed him if he wanted to shoot him. But he seems apologetic, anyway.]

Sorry about that. I didn't mean to scare you.

[ What Once-ler says immediately grabs Anne's attention, and she stares open mouthed for a long moment. Nobody had told her that.

Then she tries to blink comprehension back into her gaze as she looks to Allen with an angry scoff. ]

I know not what they are, but they are more ghastly than the cursed sheep. I will not sleep in these God forsaken shacks and nor should any other in this progress!

[ She shouts that last part quite loudly, so that anyone else nearby might hear, then lowers her voice back down for those near her. Or rather...Spike and Once-ler. ]

Master Spiegel would not dare put my life in danger, you have no reason to fear his skill. But what do you mean that death is true out here? Who has died? How do you know this?

...Gee, thanks, I guess. [Still unsure about you, Mister Gun. He glances around as Anne starts shouting all over the place, well, everyone sure heard that]

I'm pretty sure that won't be a problem now. Not unless someone has a major bug-love.

[Oh nooooo, not questions. He subtly shifts behind Allen, nudging him forward a little]

It's just what I read. You should ask this guy, he's been out here more times than I have.

Yes, Cockroaches.

[Wow what a scream- Wait why is he shifting behind him?! Ugh no he has to explain? Gaaaah. But fine, he'll look towards Anne when he talks]

No one from our groups, but people whom called the First Generation- ah, former castle residents who choose to live out here in the Dead Zone, have. We got that information from them, and have yet to feel the desire to test it.

[It's not the first time Spike has heard someone mention that, but now that it's being pointed out again, he's starting to wonder how he could fact check that while he's out here. (Thanks for bringing this up, Once-ler!)]

I'm surprised it hasn't come up yet.

[What do you all even do on expeditions?]

[ Seriously. ]

It is a miracle that none of our own have suffered this misfortune.

[ Where is Sherlock. He's supposed to be somewhere around here, and they need a guinea pig. That is a big lake. Nobody would find the body.

No. Yes. No. ]

Let us pray we never find out the truth.

Less of a miracle and more of running away very fast from things trying to kill us.

[But hey, that's pretty normal in Paradisa anyway, right?]

Not all of us run.

[And back at Anne and Spike!]

But it is a miracle, in a way. And we'll do everything we can to make sure it stays that way.

[Things like giant roaches... Whatever.]

Sounds like a fun time.

[ Hey, she's with Once-ler. But she's a lady, what do you expect.

Anne shoots one more look to the house they just came out of, then turns to walk away, ditching them to get the heck away from this area! She looks disgusted, thinking about the sheep and those 'cockroaches' and just how eery this abandonment is. Death exists back home, but nothing like this does. ]

This town is cursed...
