Terre Haute Expedition: Paradisa Town

[After a long few days of traveling, the expedition team has reached past it's halfway point! And as such, they decide to make rest at a place that had once been the target of a previous expedition:]

Paradisa Town
Note: Talking Animal People and Actually Happy Once-ler Not Included

[A small cutesy village that once served as a world change location, it has now been abandoned of all it's previous residents. Though it's condition hardly looks like a place that hasn't been lived in for years- instead it has the condition that everyone just stepped out for awhile. There are more than enough small houses to fit everyone, so it's a nice break from sleeping on the ground (for some anyway). It's also a good place to stock up if you're one of those explorers that forgot things such as food and spare clothing. That is, if you don't mind peaches and fish and really gaudy clothing.]

[Relax, Explore, Pig out on Peaches - the evening is yours to do as you please.]

[It doesn't take Conan long to find the museum. It takes him even less time to spot the inconsistencies of the insects and fish on display.]

But that's impossible! Some of these can't even live in the same climate!
lord_wizard: (cocky)

[personal profile] lord_wizard 2013-04-21 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that impossible. Most of us aren't from the same place either. It's reasonable the wildlife here is subject to the same principle.
deductiongeek: (ahaha seriously)

[personal profile] deductiongeek 2013-04-21 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Humans aren't as reliant on certain climates to live as some of these species.
lord_wizard: (smile)

[personal profile] lord_wizard 2013-04-22 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
True, though not all the residents are human, and I imagine whatever is keeping this town in such good condition also keeps these alive.
deductiongeek: (annoyed)

[personal profile] deductiongeek 2013-04-23 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
That's the question, isn't it? What is keeping the town alive?
lord_wizard: (crossed)

[personal profile] lord_wizard 2013-04-23 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
The castle brought the residents here once. It would seem, therefore, that it is not subject to the restrictions in the Dead Zone. Or was created before the area of the Dead Zone was reversed.

But it would be interesting to learn how the science of it works, right?
lord_wizard: (pretty)

[personal profile] lord_wizard 2013-04-25 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Assuming science as you know it can be applied. I'd suspect some kind of magic, but seeing as I am metaphorically blind to it right now, I cannot exactly confirm that.
deductiongeek: (backwards glance)

[personal profile] deductiongeek 2013-04-27 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Magic doesn't explain anything.
lord_wizard: (crossed)

[personal profile] lord_wizard 2013-04-28 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Well, no. Magic is not an explanation in and of itself. It's not a rug you can sweep everything under and be done with it.
deductiongeek: (innocent)

[personal profile] deductiongeek 2013-04-28 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[And suddenly Conan became interested in what this guy had to say.]

You have a way of explaining this magic?
lord_wizard: (hand on hips)

[personal profile] lord_wizard 2013-04-30 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
[He gave Conan an appraising look. The kid clearly had a stark scientific view of the world that was typically difficult to counter, but he couldn't deny any open attempt to listen.]

That depends on what sort of explanation you're looking for. Even in my own world, exactly what or where magic comes from isn't known. It seems beyond explanation because we lack the ability to properly do so, but that isn't to say it's beyond the ability to define.
deductiongeek: (really?)

[personal profile] deductiongeek 2013-05-09 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
An explanation based on facts and plausible physical laws.
