Terre Haute expedition: Camping Day 1

[It's been a more or less uneventful day of travel for the expedition team. Not unexpected for the first leg of such a trip, and with any luck, it will stay that way.

As the sun starts to get low in the sky, Felix signals the group with a sharp whistle to stop, shortly after he feels the change. They've entered the Dead Zone. That sudden loss of power for anyone used to that sort of thing. Not an easy thing to adjust to, at first.]

"We've crossed into the border of the Dead Zone now. We should stop here for the night. Those of you with experience, help set up camp as needed. And I recommend a few of you working out a watch schedule. You never can tell what might be out here."

[She looks. Well, that answers that question - she knows Lemony and that other girl (although the name escapes her at the moment). Also it seems that yes, the wiggler can understand her after all. Cool.]

Alright. As long as there's somebody to look after you.

[She crouches down to warm her hands by the fire, as long as she's here.]

I've seen people get really bent out of shape about kids coming along on these expeditions, but usually they're complaining about me. You've probably set a new record. How old are you?

[She smiles and nods. Of course she has someone to look out for her. Of course that doesn't mean that she's completely incapable of taking care of herself. She's quite capable, you know.

But she understands the skepticism. She grins at the thought of setting a record for the youngest expedition-goer. That was unexpected and she doesn't dislike the idea.]

Dos. [Or rather, "I am two years old."]

Dos? [She doesn't really... speak Spanish...... but maybe she's heard it before, researching Dia de los Muertos or somewhere.] Is that two?

[She grins, showing off her four very sharp teeth. Hey you got it! She nods, deciding that would be easier than hoping she might be able to translate further.]

Well, that's very impressive! I'm pretty sure I still had six legs when I was your age. This kind of journey would have been out of the question.

[blink blink. What? That's a very curious thing to say there]

Chindara? [Or rather "Six legs? How is that possible? People aren't born with six legs."]

[Fortunately, Sunny's intonation gets her meaning across nicely. Aradia chuckles.]

Yep. Trolls like me don't start our lives as miniature versions of ourselves, like humans do. Instead we hatch as these fat little grubs, and we wriggle around like that until it's time to pupate. [she wriggles a little to illustrate.] You know what a pupa is?
