Terre Haute expedition: Camping Day 1

[It's been a more or less uneventful day of travel for the expedition team. Not unexpected for the first leg of such a trip, and with any luck, it will stay that way.

As the sun starts to get low in the sky, Felix signals the group with a sharp whistle to stop, shortly after he feels the change. They've entered the Dead Zone. That sudden loss of power for anyone used to that sort of thing. Not an easy thing to adjust to, at first.]

"We've crossed into the border of the Dead Zone now. We should stop here for the night. Those of you with experience, help set up camp as needed. And I recommend a few of you working out a watch schedule. You never can tell what might be out here."

I wish to be certain that you are not worsening your condition. [She tilts her head and gives him a slight smile.] Humor me.

...Fine. [He decides to just get it over with, in the interest of avoiding more annoyance. He walks over to her unhappily.]

I was in an explosion. I have bruises, a cut on my forehead, and a deeper cut on my shoulder that needed stitches.

[She looks him over, taking care not to aggravate the wounds as she does so.]

And how long ago was this? [Does she need to worry about concussions?]

Two days. And I already got checked in the clinic.

[inafadingcrown]

You ought to have rested longer. [She seems satisfied, though, that he's not in any real danger and gives him some space.] You must take care not to reopen your wounds.

[deductiongeek]

I can rest when nothing is happening. And I'm being very careful! [He twists to settle his bandages and sling back in place. If it is painful, he doesn't allow it to show on his face.]

It is not the same. [Sigh.] You will be twice as sore as the rest of use upon our return, mark my words.

That's okay! I would have been sore if I stayed home too!

[inafadingcrown]

You are incorrigible. Do you know that?

[deductiongeek]

I've been called that before! [Among many other much more unflattering names.]

[inafadingcrown]

That does not surprise me in the least.

But most of the time I get called the brat in glasses.

Were my intention to insult you, I am certain I could think of far more creative terms. [But that's not her point at all.]

I'm sure you would! [But he doesn't seem very bothered by any of this.]

[Which she is noticing... But whatever.] I speak from concern; you realize this, do you not?

Of course! But the concern isn't necessary.
