Terre Haute expedition: Camping Day 1

[It's been a more or less uneventful day of travel for the expedition team. Not unexpected for the first leg of such a trip, and with any luck, it will stay that way.

As the sun starts to get low in the sky, Felix signals the group with a sharp whistle to stop, shortly after he feels the change. They've entered the Dead Zone. That sudden loss of power for anyone used to that sort of thing. Not an easy thing to adjust to, at first.]

"We've crossed into the border of the Dead Zone now. We should stop here for the night. Those of you with experience, help set up camp as needed. And I recommend a few of you working out a watch schedule. You never can tell what might be out here."

A visit home. There were some bombing incidents.

[He shrugs with his good shoulder.]

I stopped the bomber in time, but I had some injuries.

Some injuries? [You better elaborate.] And you decided to come out to the Dead Zone the next day?

[No one died, and he was the only one injured. It ended well enough.]

A cur on my forehead and another cut on my shoulder. Debris from the bombs in the stadium, most likely. [Also lots of bruises, but he doesn't bother mentioning that.]

Nothing bad enough to need more than stitches. So why should I let that stop me?

You could have asked! [Plus she's already done it once before, if dreams count. Geez, Conan, get it together.]

Heck, you could have asked anyone for help, but nooooo... You had to go frolicking off into dangerous territory with BRAND NEW STITCHES because someone's too chicken to get help when he needs it!!

I did ask for help. In the clinic. And this is hardly the first time I've left to get something done with some injuries. I know how to work through this kind of thing.

But you didn't tell them you'd be traveling soon, did you. [Not a question. If he had, he'd either A) be fully healed or B) still be in the castle because they'd watch him closer.]

You don't have to work through it though! Wouldn't things go smoother if you were fully recovered?!
