After packing up camp and heading up, they reach their destination only an hour north.

The tomb is just a little off the road, a massive door with intricate carvings around the frame in an unknown script. The characters in the script are made up entirely by straight lines. Given that straight lines lend themselves well to carving, it may indicate that whoever created this script was used to carving in stone. The door looks like it will open, as the hinges are intact, but it's ridiculously heavy and will need a lot of people to pull on those big carved handles.

Mmhm. [She crouches carefully, and then shifts so she's sitting on Tad the normal way, lowering the journal to show John her record.]

[ Standing on his tiptoes to make himself a little taller than it. ]

It looks pretty good to me, actually! And since you have this now, you don't have to worry about whether the photos are gonna turn out or not.

[ A beat. ]

Do you think it means anything?

[She slides off Tad's back and crouches to take some rubbings of the lower designs.]

You know, I'm really not sure! I don't have the training to say one way or another. I wish you'd had a chance to meet Raine Sage, she was an archaeologist and would probably be better at analyzing these than me. But if we can take a record back to the castle, maybe we can study and find correlations.

[ Scootin' to the side a bit to give her room. ]

Well, there might be other archaeologist on the trip or at the castle still. I actually don't know what most people here do for a living.

[ Pause... WAIT... What does Rin do for a living? How has he known her for this long without knowing that? Does she do anything for a living yet? She's still pretty young! ]

And there's a pretty good chance there will be a book about this in the library if not.

An old friend... gone now. I bet she would've loved you. She knew all about this kind of stuff.

[She'll just step back and survey the doors, looking thoughtful.]

That'd be helpful - and books will be there, I'm sure. It's just if we can properly interpret whatever information we get...

[Rin is a traveling avenger for a living, John.]

Maybe she'll come back someday! Oh, uhm, unless she really wanted to go home, in which case it sucks I missed her, but it's better the way it is.

[ ... That job sounds so cool... *^* ]

I bet we can at least come up with a couple pretty good interpretations.

I think... she had things she missed about home. And was happy there, but I think she was interested in this place too... so I do miss her.

[A shrug, anyhow.]

If we don't have an archaeologist already, maybe someone will discover a passion for it and become our new expect.

Hmm... I'm not sure if it's a good thing if she comes back or not in the case then. I guess it's okay, as long as she gets to go home again too.

And maybe someone in the town knows something about archaeology and would be willing to help us out!

I guess... that could be possible, that we'd find someone in town. It might be worth trying.

Especially if we can't find anything helpful in the library.
