Terre Haute

[Today, our intrepid explorers have finally made it to Terre Haute. It’s mostly grassland, and on the outskirts small spotted lions, about the size of leopards prowl around. They seem to be more interested in the strange antelope running around than in any people, however. Towards the edge, lies a cliff face, looking out to sea, on occasion giant whales can be seen breaching the water.

Of the weird thing they came to look for, in the distance is a cylindrical shape, lying on its side. But between them and it is a strange village. One made up of excessively tall wooden huts, all of which have electric lights, turned on, though how they’re creating such power is a mystery, they are still very much inside the dead zone.

The residents of this off little village are wandering around, going about their buisess. The residents being a group of bemused looking giraffes. Perhaps you will even see some familiar non-giraffe faces milling about.

Maybe. Can't say I'm an expert in the alcohol tolerances of animals.

Who knows, drink too much and you might start acting like them~

[ Ken huffs a laugh to himself. Far be it for him to say that he knows a lot about Japanese architecture, but that's common knowledge, at least. ] That's true about our buildings, but I don't think anything would have survived an impact that strong from such a short distance away. Even if the buildings could weather it, if the earthquake was strong enough to reach you guys all the way back at the castle, there would have been a lot more damage to the ground itself, right? I mean... I'm kind of surprised that we're not sitting in a crater right now.

I'd probably go with your first theory, unless they can terra-form way faster than any method I know of... Which would technically fall under that theory anyway. [ Magic is just a process science hasn't explained yet! Ken's rule of thumb at the castle for pretty much everything. ]

[ Ken turns his head to look at her, tilting a little. ] Yeah... It doesn't get any more reasonable. How long have you been at the castle?

[kindnessing]

[ ... The giraffes haven't done anything overtly malicious, but they also aren't the most predictable of creatures. Ken looks hard at the drink, looks back up at the giraffe, and then... takes a sip. A suspicious one, but it's a sip. ]

My boyfriend was freaking me out about those angler fish things... I would take a ghost monster fish over that.

[he's signed his name in the journal a few times. or maybe she found one of his ridiculously depressing and horrible books in the library. it's possible.

anyway, he watches James wind his way through the herd, he turns to Mitsuru, keeping his voice low]

Quite a resourceful fellow. How do you know him?

[She nods, though a bit defeated.]

I suppose that is the best course of action for now. Given that we still do not know what caused the tremors exactly, I dare not be foolish enough to venture out on my own.

Yeah, planning on it. I'm guessing theres no way this doesn't end in some kind of horrible disaster.

It will have been one whole year in June. [She looks at you, too.] What about you? And how exactly did you end up so far away from it?

Huh. That's a good point. I mean, the other possibility is maybe it could have triggered some kind of fault, but hell if we know anything about the tectonics of this planet anyway. But it probably would have at least knocked down some trees or shattered some windows or something.

[York nods.] Maybe we could ask them and find out?

I'd say in normal circumstances that couldn't be possible, but given where we are...

[His smile is friendly and he nods his head in greeting. Running into people that know him is never going to get old.] Ah, I see. It's good to meet you Felix.

Oh! I guess it could be, then. This world gets all sorts.

[Aradia looks around curiously, but she doesn't see anything wrong with the color scheme in the juice bar... Shrug, maybe it's a human thing.]

Well, thanks. I don't know, though, an uprising of the undead might have killed the mood.

Yes, in the mirror room. Apparently, giraffes are the only ones who are smart enough to understand.

That seems... kind of morbid. Like making a statue of a human or animal out of meat...

Ah... I'm not entirely sure. [ Ken puts his cup aside and leans to rest his elbows on his legs and his chin on his hands. ] Is it still April? That's the last month I remember spending in Paradisa... I'm in the middle of my third year here. After that, I was back home for about six months... I was about to step into a subway car, and I found myself stepping out of one of the huts here... That's what I know for sure.

That'd probably be the best idea. It's a little difficult to get a straight answer about anything if it doesn't pertain to their interests, though...
