Terre Haute Expedition: Paradisa Town

[After a long few days of traveling, the expedition team has reached past it's halfway point! And as such, they decide to make rest at a place that had once been the target of a previous expedition:]


Paradisa Town
Note: Talking Animal People and Actually Happy Once-ler Not Included

[A small cutesy village that once served as a world change location, it has now been abandoned of all it's previous residents. Though it's condition hardly looks like a place that hasn't been lived in for years- instead it has the condition that everyone just stepped out for awhile. There are more than enough small houses to fit everyone, so it's a nice break from sleeping on the ground (for some anyway). It's also a good place to stock up if you're one of those explorers that forgot things such as food and spare clothing. That is, if you don't mind peaches and fish and really gaudy clothing.]

THE SHEEP

[ A little outside the town on the way in, there is a fenced in sheep's yard. There's no indication of any farms or caretakers nearby the area, yet the sheep look like they've been well taken care of all the same- as well as the wooden fence is in good shape. The sheep seem harmless enough, with their wooly coats and their grazing in their herd. It would almost look like something out of a picturesque farm paining]

[You know, if they didn't have eight legs each.]

THE TOWN

[That is a rather simplified map you'll find at the entrance of town and at the train station! The town itself is in a slightly forested area with several ammenitites as follows:

Tom Nook's seems to be a general store full of things such as tacky clothing, furniture, paint and tools like fishing rods, shovels and paper.

The tailor is simply part a fabric store and part an even wider collection of the same tacky clothing.

The train station stands before a set of rails that seem to stop after a mile in either direction if you follow them. There is no sign of an actual train.

The wishing well seems to be a medium size fountain in front of a tree

The post office and police station are pretty standard, though the police station seems more like a lost and found bureau than a crime stopping force.

The museum houses live samples of insects and fish that live in this area (all of whom seem to be wide variety earth species that normally don't live together for any earth savy scientists in the group!). There is also an art gallery full of famous paintings that may or may not be the originals, and a collection of various dinosaur bones.

And the garbage dump is your standard fenced ground to dump garbage, though it seems to be empty right now.]

THE HOUSES

[Tired or want to explore the residential houses? Well throughout the town, there are several small cute looking houses that come in an assortment of bright colored roofs. These once housed all the residents from Paradisa and the residents of the town, so there's more than enough of them even if everyone wanted their own houses. Outside the houses there are carved name plaques of their former owners, and a mysterious machine that dances around and makes noises if you turn it on. Okay so that's kinda weird, but either way this seems like a great break from the ground!

Well, there's a bit of a catch: since many of these were taken care of by your fellow residents- they aren't all in great shape. Most of them inside are tiny, being only about 9'x9' in size- though there's are a couple that are much bigger in size (not that you can tell from the outside thanks to the power of Paradisa Town Hammer Space) that were owned by diligent Paradisa residents and townspeople. Some are very well furnished, some just have an orange crate and hand radio.

And for the houses where the owners were kinda messy? Well, unfortunately they are now housed by cockroaches the size of a person's foot. Yikes. Better hope you don't go into a house having some of those huh?]

THE NATURE

[Exploring the town's not your thing? No problem! This area is full of nature! There are trees to climb, many of which are peach trees! There's a pond, a lake, a river, a waterfall and even a beach to a huge salty body of water! While the rest of the Dead Zone is pretty, well, Dead- this place seems pretty full of life! You might catch sight of insects or fish in the water! It wouldn't even be too hard to get your hands on a fishing rod or butterfly net if you want to catch some of these little guys!

For those savaging for local food? It seems that only peaches and fish are on the menu. That is, if you don't feel like trying out eight legged sheep or cockroach.]

[The Once-ler is certainly NOT happy right now. He's squinting at one of those houses, trying to decide if he can even fit through the door. Maybe if he ducked? Still, all six foot seven of him is not going to have a comfortable night in that thing.

Looks like another night in the tent for him, probably just as well, as another unless starts carving itself into the door of the house]

Seriously, who built these houses? Who sat down and thought 'oh hey, I know what houses need to be, smaller'. Ugh.

[Once they arrive in the town, Pixy just comes to a complete halt with a perplexed look coming to his face. Wonderland was weird enough, but now this... onslaught of color and weird?

Yeah he really hoped this wasn't the place they were heading for to begin with.]

What the hell is this place?

[Someone looks absolutely delighted! Jane hurries over to the fence and leans over it to get a closer look.]

The eight-legged sheep! Oh, I'd heard they were out here! I never thought I'd actually see one!

[Oh hey Allen hears a random complainer! He himself is really not happy to be back in this town because this town suuucks. But at least he'll talk to the guy!]

The people who lived in this town were small animal creatures. They didn't bother to accommodate for human heights.

[Or Once-ler height. Though it doesn't really phase him since Cross ALWAYS towered over him]

[Allen stalls near him, noticing Larry looking very perplexed. He knows this town, he's been to it twice after all. And trust me, he does not look happy to be back]

It's called Paradisa Town. It's a village that used to be a world change.

[Ted is psyched to get his first real glance at new animals. He eagerly runs to the sheep yard. Of course since he's never seen a sheep before, he doesn't know they're not supposed to have eight legs]

Is anyone in charge? Can I pet them?

[ Oh. Eight legs. Guess who don't care about the extra legs.

Nymeria has already killed one. Arya is in the process of cutting away some of the meat for herself and anyone else who may want it. Sitting behind her, Nymeria voices a long complaint. ]

Hush. I'm almost finished. Then you can eat.

[He looks over at Allen, raising an eyebrow.]

'Paradisa Town?' Not very inventive with the names in this place, are they?

But you're not looking too enthused to be here.

[Zelos has been to Paradisa Town before on his own wanderings, so he doesn't feel the need to explore the area. Instead, he'll focus on more important matters- getting clean from days of traveling]

[And so once he stores his stuff away in one of the non-roach ridden houses, he'll head to the lake. Stripping down to his underwear, he'll jump into the water]

Bleh- cold!

[Oh well. It's a small price to pay for hygiene]

No, they really aren't.

[He gives a small sigh]

I hate this town. But it should be peaceful to stay for today.

[Spike would be the straggler, reluctantly following the group into the quaint little town. Not exactly what he expected from what he heard about these expeditions. (He may not pay the best attention to the reports, but didn't they get excited about a cave the last time...)

He ends up hanging near the lack-of-garbage dump, while he figures everyone is going to be scrabbling towards the houses.]

So I guess they're stopping.

Don't be such a baby.

[ Completely unashamed by Zelos' state, Arya skips over rocks. ]

But it's freeeezing!

[Yep, going to be very melodramatic to annoy. But he'll start washing his arms]

[At least this is enough to tell him that this wasn't their main target. Which is a relief.]

Not a fan of the aethestics or is there a deeper reasoning for that hatred of yours?

[ Unfortunately for him, she's become inured to most of his melodrama. ]

[HERE WE GO-]

The first time I came here, it was full of small animal people that would screech at you if you so much as swore. The second time, there was a strange creature that looked like a plague doctor who had kidnapped someone and attacked us.

And to make it worse, all there is to eat here is peaches and fish! Imagine living on that for a week straight!

Are you kidding? I'm all wet, so the wind will make it even colder.

[Danny just stops and stares at the town. It was so bright and cheerful, that it was almost creepy. And that was definitely with three e's.]

Where are all the people? This is an actual town, right?

[ A shrug. ]

Looks like you lose no matter what.

Jeez, you're almost as cold as the water.
