Lastlook: Entering the River

[For the past day or so, it's pretty clear the Amber Steppe has been left behind and the Totem Coast is getting closer. The air is more humid and the undergrowth has gone from a burnt amber color to be thicker, greender, and almost bordering on jungle-like. Several other streams have joined the one that the explorers have been following until it's almost large enough to start sailing on. Raine had encouraged everyone to press on, though, not sure it was time just yet (and also because she doesn't particularly like boats, okay). The cliffs around them start to grow up as well, and it probably won't be too long before the jungle becomes a properly impassable one, leaving the river as the only choice.

But this morning, another large stream had joined up with their and now it was more like a proper river. In the late morning they reach a large pier with five boats. The river also begins to take a higher road from here downstream, while the jungle starts to clog the lower road. Looks like it won't be too much longer before they're in the very painting that led them here. It's time to investigate those boats - and unload the smaller onces Percy Jackson has packed. And if you don't trust either of these, there are some inflatable rafts that Raine has packed as well.

So let's load up, and they'll be on the water by the afternoon!]

[Flynn's already standing closer to the whole boats. He looks up as Harry approaches]

Think we'll all fit in these? It'd be easier if we didn't have to repair one first.

I hope that mate. [Harry glances over at the broken boat.] I agree but do you got any tools and knowledge about how to make repairs to a boat?

[messin_with_my_zen_thing]

Tools, no. [He chuckles] I'm afraid I left my hammer and nails in my other bag. If anyone else had anything I could probably help, though boat building isn't quite my forte.

Not mine either mate. [Shrugs] I hope someone can repair stuff.

It would certainly make things easier, wouldn't it? Ah well There's got to be at least one person in this bunch who knows what they're doing, right?

I know a little about repairing stuff. Not boats though.

Y'know have we ever introduced us to each other? [Frowns] Well my name's Harry Flynn.

[messin_with_my_zen_thing]

[He smiles] You know you're right. We've spoken but I don't know if I ever caught your name.

[He holds out a hand] Kevin Flynn

[Raises an eyebrow at that] Not often I met people with the same last name as me. There's not relation I s'pose?

[messin_with_my_zen_thing]

[He laughs] I highly doubt it. Not unless you have relatives in California.

[youhavebeenflynned]

None that I know of, no.

[messin_with_my_zen_thing]

[He smiles] Then it's probably unlikely. But that's alright. We Flynns still have to stick together.

[youhavebeenflynned]

[Small chuckle] You're right about that.

[messin_with_my_zen_thing]

So. What do you think about all this? [He gestures]

It's interesting. I have been itching for something exciting to do instead of being holed up in a dusty castle all the time.

[messin_with_my_zen_thing]

[He chuckles] I know what you mean. It gets a little redundant doing the same thing day in and day out doesn't it?

There's something to be said for a change of scenery, so to speak.
