[Good evening, explorers! After departing from Cair Paradisa, the path was south at first, but turned west fairly early on. Skirting well south of Eldritch Forest, the travelers had camped near the edge of the Amber Steppe, not quite within sight of the forest that marks the Totem Coast. The grasses are parched brown by the heat, though greener patches mark the presence of water. It's near one of these - a small, bubbling stream leading west that Raine has chosen to follow as it will almost certainly run into the river marked on her map - that the travelers have made their camp.

The carts and wagons are arranged in a defensive circle, though the campers are free to set up their tents outside them as well as inside wher ethe rest of them are. There are small cooking fires scattered around as well as a large bonfire in the center for socializing.

Play music? Sing? Teach those poor non-Earth kids how to make s'mores? Or just sit around and socialize with others.

Or hide in your tent and ignore everyone, if you really want to.]

[Carolina reaches into her pack for her canteen, offering it out to South.]

It won't do much, but it could help. [If South's overheated or whatever might be going on right now.]

[Oh, yeah. She'll take that, and drink deeply from it.] Not moving is helping the most, but damn I've got sore muscles I didn't even know existed.

[This is what happens when you slack, South.]

Why is it you look alright? We didn't have horses in training ...

[She takes a moment to glance around at the budding camp, gaze taking it all in analytically, before turning back to South at her question. Oh. Welp.]

I have some experience from before I enlisted.

Oh, well. Lucky you. [She takes another decent drink and hands the canteen back.] What'd you do, like races or something?

[South drops her head for a moment and lifts her fist with a thumbs up, but it's not very enthusiastic.]

I'll be sure to do nothing tonight in preparation. [Believe it or not, she appreciates not having to do it now.]

[Carolina adopts a stern expression, but it's not quite as hard as it usually is. South's not feeling good and that really takes precedence over filling every slot in the watches roster.]

Stay hydrated, get some rest.

[Nodding once more, she holds out her canteen again.] Keep it until tomorrow.

[South looks from the canteen to Carolina before taking it, and immediately taking another drink.] Yeah, thanks.

Think I'm probably just going to park my ass by the fire for a bit. You know, not move.

You'd do better getting some sleep in our tent. It's set up and ready to go for the night. [With York's help, of course.]
