[Good evening, explorers! After departing from Cair Paradisa, the path was south at first, but turned west fairly early on. Skirting well south of Eldritch Forest, the travelers had camped near the edge of the Amber Steppe, not quite within sight of the forest that marks the Totem Coast. The grasses are parched brown by the heat, though greener patches mark the presence of water. It's near one of these - a small, bubbling stream leading west that Raine has chosen to follow as it will almost certainly run into the river marked on her map - that the travelers have made their camp.

The carts and wagons are arranged in a defensive circle, though the campers are free to set up their tents outside them as well as inside wher ethe rest of them are. There are small cooking fires scattered around as well as a large bonfire in the center for socializing.

Play music? Sing? Teach those poor non-Earth kids how to make s'mores? Or just sit around and socialize with others.

Or hide in your tent and ignore everyone, if you really want to.]

[peeeer] What's that?

Oh, hey, Rue! This is the stuff you need to make s'mores. C'mon over, I'll show you how. [he shifts over to make room for her] You ever had a marshmallow?

[She sits down next to him with a smile, shaking her head.]

No. What's a S'more?

It's a dessert! Here, try a marshmallow by itself, first, they're totally different that way. [and he'll hold out the bag. Stay-Puft, OF COURSE]

[She takes the marshmallow, giving it an experimental sniff before putting the whole thing in her mouth. Her eyes widen and she smiles as she swallows]

It's good!

[he laughs, then preps a stick for her and holds it out] They're even better when you roast 'em over the fire. Then they get crispy on the outside and gooey in the middle.

They do? [She takes the stick and looks it over before holding it out over the fire]

How long do you cook them for?

It depends on how hot the fire is. You've kinda got to keep an eye on 'em. [he picks his stick up from where he'd planted it in the sand while he fixed hers] Mine are aaaaaalllmost done. I like 'em just a little brown. Some people like to leave 'em in until they burn and get really, really crispy.

Why would you want to burn them that much? [She giggles and holds her marshmallow a little above the flames]

Beats me. [he shrugs cheerfully, pulling his off the fire before they can burn] Some people are just weird.

[she giggles] a lot of people are. Especially here. But that's okay!

[She's watching her own marshmallow very carefully, not wanting it to get TOO toasty.
