[Good evening, explorers! After departing from Cair Paradisa, the path was south at first, but turned west fairly early on. Skirting well south of Eldritch Forest, the travelers had camped near the edge of the Amber Steppe, not quite within sight of the forest that marks the Totem Coast. The grasses are parched brown by the heat, though greener patches mark the presence of water. It's near one of these - a small, bubbling stream leading west that Raine has chosen to follow as it will almost certainly run into the river marked on her map - that the travelers have made their camp.

The carts and wagons are arranged in a defensive circle, though the campers are free to set up their tents outside them as well as inside wher ethe rest of them are. There are small cooking fires scattered around as well as a large bonfire in the center for socializing.

Play music? Sing? Teach those poor non-Earth kids how to make s'mores? Or just sit around and socialize with others.

Or hide in your tent and ignore everyone, if you really want to.]

I can go after the first watch. The kid going to be alright, though? [ She's still not comfortable with all these kids here, but she'll keep an eye on them they way she would normally. ]

The watches will make sure she's safe. [Carolina nods seriously as she tucks her gloves into her saddlebag.] Second watch work out for you?

That's fine. [ She rubs her wrists and takes a moment to glance at everyone else at camp. ] It's nice to make your acquaintance properly this time, Agent Carolina.

[Carolina nods, that smile returning slightly.] And you, Kate. Definitely better that we're not on losses out here.

An upside to the Dead Zone. I've heard temporary losses don't affect anyone once they've crossed the border.

I've heard that too. It'd still make getting out here a little difficult. [Or getting prepared, really, if someone was a dog or cat of some kind.]

Agreed. Last thing we need is someone else hindering our travel plans.

It's been smooth sailing so far. [ Which has her on high alert, in all honesty. ]

We didn't hit any major hitches on the last expedition until we got to our destination. Could be the same here. [Which will make Carolina much more careful once they get into any caves or cave systems. She definitely doesn't want another cave-in.]

If there's anything tailing us then, it won't make itself known until we're completely off guard.
