What she can't take her eyes off of are the skeletons. With a scientist's eye she looks over their forms, notes what is human and most definitely is not. There's a range among them that is morbidly captivating. Even now she's walking over two two of them. They're not alike, structurally. But affection sits between them like a shared ghost. Fred shivers....
And then looks up. To their own group. Her gaze seems to slip even further, to the rest of the people in the expedition they can't see. Then to the castle itself]
...this could be us.

But before approaching her he flashes River a smile.]
Thank you for that.
[Before that smile slips and he nods.]
Yes it could be us. This is a reminder of that. [Then softer as he gets closer to her.] Are you alright miss?

[Even though she answered the question, and is present to recognize the asking of it? Fred is still clearly lost in her own thoughts. One hand hovers just over one of the skulls, almost touching? But not quite]
We always assumed we went back. Back right to the moment we were taken from. [And while Fred's never understood exactly why everyone was so certain of that, it's long been accepted as true] But they --
They didn't go back. They're still...[Again, her gaze flickers at the couples and groups that surround them] They're still here. So what then? What happened to their friends and their families and their timeslines? To their lives? Are they just missing, now?
[That skull, still not touching it]
Did I walk by her face, posted at a grocery store somewhere? On a lamppost? And not even wonder what that meant?

You did nothing, you could know nothing of what happened to them. For all we know this place could, cause more realities in our own worlds where we would never miss someone if they died here.
But you are better off, [And here he reaches for her hand near that skull, attempting to take it in his.] not dwelling on it. Not now. Focus on the present, not the past.

I'm sure there's an explanation to this. We'll figure it out. Right now just remember that at least for the time being, this isn't us. We're not weak. We're just a little lost.

And if this will become our fate.

Though if the Castle ever, fell I would think this would be our fate.

Look at these people, anyway. They all look like they were... ready. For something. Who knows what happened here? How did these people really die? What led to that happening? We've torn down Paradisa once before and we didn't all die for it. What's different between our situations? There must be something.

[Rin moves to put an arm around John's shoulders.]
We should take this paper with us. And I still have my journal, so maybe sketch some of this, if I can or if anyone's better up to it than me. This information has to be shared.

[ A pause... ]
Should we write down what it says in the journals too, so everyone can see?
no subject
Why not? We can write down John's translation too, and let other people check it and look at it and talk about it. Information like this should be shared.
