Winchester/Fairfield Expedition - Day Two Open Mingle Post

[by now, everyone has had a chance to look around Fairfield and get their bearings, right? those who came along and remember it from a few years ago probably found a lot changed and in need of repairs.

as for the distress call, Dr. Brewer and his friend Heath have been pretty friendly and outgoing, but the other refugees from Draconis have stayed in hiding. maybe you're helping with the repairs, maybe you're trying to find those other refugees and see if they need help ... or maybe you're just wandering around and doing your own thing.

either way, there seems to be no sign of those creepy, crawly Collector bugs from Terre Haute, today, so you're free to do as you please! post in one of the sections provided, or make your own - it's all good!]

[helping rebuild things? this is the place to be! remember: the fences and outer buildings need the most attention, and Brewer mentioned the need for stronger defenses, so you might want to concentrate on those!]

[of course Gale is here, working on the fences. he's taken some boards from a pretty badly damaged shed and spent the morning hauling them over. now, he's splitting the boards into suitable rails, whistling to himself as he works to keep the pace.

every now and then, though, he'll stop to rest, drink some water, and chat with anyone who wanders by.

he's also shirtless you're welcome.]

[Danny is here, staring at the fence as he tries to figure out the best way to patch it up.]

How did this work again?

That kind of fence goes like this... [he gestures with his arms where planks and rails go, but it might be confusing since he's doing it fast]

You sure about that?

[But Danny starts nailing boards up at strange angles.]

Stop! That has to be straight! [Probably not a good idea to get in between Danny and the board though]

Straight, what?

[And of course Danny gets distracted and drops his hammer.]

[Django sighs]

Here, I'll hold it up while you nail it.

..Right. Good idea.

[Danny picks up the board and hands it over.]

[Django takes it and holds it parallel to the ground]

Alright, I got it.

[Danny starts hammering nails in.]

And the other side too.

[Danny keeps working on it.[

There, that's it. Are you starting to see how it works?

Oh yeah, I totally got this.

[Danny wasn't completely useless when it came to knowing his way around a toolbox. He was just more used to weird science than fences.]

Alright. I'll work on another part so you have less to do.

[Vereesa can be found scaling the outside of the taller buildings, doing her best to help repair the buildings as best as she can. She's definitely no carpenter, but that isn't going to stop her from contributing. There are already plenty helping down below, why not start at the top?

She doesn't seem fazed by the height, either. Anyone is free to lend a hand.]

[Gale pauses to take a break from splitting rails and raises a hand to wipe the sweat off his brow. naturally, he looks up, first idly scanning the clouds, then the vill -- wait. okay, he didn't expect to see someone climbing around the rooftops]

... You okay up there? Need some rope or anything?

[sworn]

[She's getting ready to hammer a board back in its place when she looks down at the young man shouting up at her. She gives him a rather confident smile, as if she does this sort of thing all the time.]

I'll be fine. This is hardly the highest place I have been.

Okay! [he waves at her with a smile back. he remembers that when he first arrived, there were people scaling the castle towers to chip off the ice, and wonders if she might have been one of them.]

Just let me know if you do need anything, yeah?

[sworn]

[To that, she gives him a salute before she begins to hammer that board back in place.]

[he watches her for a moment, impressed by her coordination, before going back to his own work. men who work in mines were not necessarily meant to clamber around on roofs]
